Our Cruise on Carnival Miracle sucks

dbbcruiser I agree with you 100%. While on our cruise we experienced the same type of behavior with the SENIOR group.... When we were on our 8-day cruise on the Liberty we did not experience such rude people. As for the clanging noise it could be that the ship is still having some mechanical problems. On our last sea day the ship started vibrating really bad, the ship listed quite a bit, and almost came to a complete stop in the middle of the ocean. So I know this ship had some mechanical issues in January. The Cruise Director just apologized and said, "we experienced a slight malfunction". We were on deck 7 so we felt the list very well and at one point I thought I was going to slide off of the bed, and by the way the seas were very calm at that time. My sister-in-law was in one of the shops and did not feel a thing.

We were on the Miracle the week after you were, and as far as I know, we didn't experience any mechanical problems. We were in 4228, an aft wrap, and didn't hear any scraping sounds either. That would have been very annoying! This was our second time on the Miracle, and in all honesty, many aspects just didn't seem to measure up to the previous cruise on her. It wasn't so bad though that we aren't already booked to return to her next year! I'm hoping to start hearing good things about her again in the near future...

A common complaint I see and just don't understand is :the ship was smokey.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but the amount of smoke onboard would be dependent on the number of smokers onboard and the frequency with which they smoke, right? And this would vary from sailing to sailing. Cruise ships don't manufacture their own cigarette smoke, do they?

Not trying to be funny, but it seems odd when people will ask if a particular ship is "smokey" or not.

When looking at cruise reviews I only read the negative ones, as they are the most entertaining. Most of the complaints tend to repeat themselves:

1. I didn't win in the casino

2. The purser's desk was rude and would not give in to my unreasonable demands, even when I became angry

3. The ships's doctor had the audacity to charge me for his services

4. The waitstaff/cabin steward DID NOT treat me like royalty

5. Camp Carnival would not let my gifted/mature for their age 12 year old hang out with the 16 year olds

6. The food was too cold/hot/bland/spicy/small/average/institutional/undercooked/inedible/high school cafteria

Now tht is hitting the nail on the head!

Please don't slam the poster...he's just sharing his experience with everyone...and if it has spoiled his appetite for sailing with Carnival then it must have been a very unenjoyable trip. If we all just reported on the great trips then the whole community would have a "skewed" version of the big picture...because sometimes (like it or not)...cruddy stuff happens, lol.

Last November, we cruised with a large group on the Carnival Liberty. It was my 5th cruise (2nd on Carnival). The cruise was plagued with problems (mainly service related issues) from start to finish...and we personally are soured on Carnival as well...not so much because of the problems but their lack of regard about what was happening.

In fact we too are taking a little hiatus from cruising and have enjoyed a couple of all inclusive resorts since then. Will we cruise again??? Most definitely!! Would it be with Carnival?? Possibly but not likely...the problems of the second trip with them just overshadows the things that we enjoyed our first time 'round. Guess we were just the unlucky ones because there are alot of great reviews about Carnival. I guess what I'm ultimately saying is that we just have to keep an open mind...statistics say that things can't be perfect all the time!! Thanks to the original poster for sharing his experience~!

I got off the Miracle yesterday and I Loved it! We had 22 people in our group and everyone said it was one of the best vacations they'd ever had! Our wait staff were some of the best servers I've ever seen, and some of the best food I've ever had on vacation and yes, I dine in a lot of upscale resturants so good service and food is a must. My only complaint ummmm only one day of the chocolate fountain is soooo not enough, haha! Oh, and I didn't win Bingo, darn so people have all the luck. Seriously though, my boyfriend had sailed the miracle two years ago and that's why we jumped on this opportunity and we are considering the Eastern Carribean Cruise on the Miracle in the next 2 years.

My guess is that the OP will only have 1 post because she just liked to stir up trouble and is known as a troll. She posted almost a week ago and never came back once to explain anything when people asked her questions.

I suppose trouble makers can be found all over...even in the cruising crowd...but I suppose my point was just to be open minded about the good and the bad reviews...we need both to get the full picture when we're researching where to spend our next vacation dollars....

I do keep an open mind when a poster writes a credible review. The OP on this thread did not write a credible review and is just a troll. It's been almost 2 weeks and still has 1 post and I'd say about 90% won't ever be back posting under that name again.

I'm sorry, I just don't understand. Let me just say I've only been on one cruise..but....

If you didn't enjoy yourself on this ship...but did on a previous ship, why would you never sail on the entire line of ships again. I can see discounting this one ship you didn't enjoy, but what about the one you liked??? Doesn't make sense to me.

Maybe their profile answers most of the questions.

Store brand for myself, to save some $$ for future cruises. DH DEMANDS Orville Redenbacker-whatever his name is...so for cabin drinks, he gets store brand vodka and I get Grey Goose :D :p I do the shopping and just LOVE payback time lol. ;)

Someone posts a bad experience on carnival and out come all the cheerleaders. Why can't someone just express their opinions without getting bashed by the cheerleaders? Troll? who knows, in any event I suggest to take any post with a grain of salt and leave it at that. No one posting here is going to ruin my cruising experience with carnival and I think that is probably true for most anyone else cruising with carnival. Put the pom poms away and act like adults with differing opinions.

With all do respect, what makes you so sure his review is not credible? Is name calling necessary? You say you have an open mind well I sure as heck don't see it that way by this post. BTW if you were the OP with his 1st post would you post again with the bashing it received? Think about it

If you would have read the whole thread from the beginning, you would have seen that I posted this on the first page. Post #15 I believe it is.

"Sailed the Miracle in June and had a great time. I would sail that ship again in a heartbeat. Everything was wonderful.

Sorry you had a bad cruise. I hope your next one will be better for you. "

:)

After the OP posted, people asked her questions, if she liked anything about the cruise and to find out the "whole story" and she never ever came back. This was before all the name calling. I have been on this site long enough to know the difference between a legitimate poster and a troll. There are plenty of people who post negative reviews on here and then come back to tell why when people ask them questions. As a matter of fact, a poster that I know on here sailed on the Victory and didn't like it at all. She posted a first post with negative comments. People asked her questions, and yes some harassed her, but she came back and answered their questions. Now she has over 1000 posts. So IMO this OP is a troll.

Ohhh and I've got news for you, the bashing doesn't only happen on the Carnival board. Go over to any other cruise lines board on this site and post a negative review and watch the cheerleaders come out and the bashing begin.

It's just the nature of internet msg boards.

That may be true but it still does not make it right. You almost never see a positive carnival post bashed but if someone posts something negative about carnival or their cruise experience the legions of cheerleaders come out in droves bashing the negative OP. This board is getting closer to the yahoo CCL board every day and IMO that board is comical. I think MACH stated a while back something to the effect of thinking before we post and being considerate to the thoughts and feelings of others. I could not agree more. I for one love carnival overall, yes I've had a few incidents but overall the value they provide is exceptional for the $$ especially being a veteran. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I just wish one could post here without the fear of getting jumped on is my point.

Peace

Hey Sandi

It does not happen at another site i occassionally visit.. its just not tolerated.. albeit, that site does not have the traffic or the almost immediate reply CC provides for us.. its a very small community of cruisers.. they disagree.. but nothing like what happens here. Here we take the minor bad stuff along with the good... and most of all enjoy the chat of cruising..

Some people only have the balls to post what they post because they are hidden behind a computer.. in real life most of them would never act out that way for or resort to name calling and threats for fear of repercussions

My friends and I have just taken the Miracle to the Southern caribbean and for all 8 of us it was the worst ship we have been on. We asked other cruisers what their feeling was about the ship and it was the same as ours.

Food was nothing special, Entertainment wasn't all that good, and service was ok at best. The casino was very smokey.

We took a private tour on St Lucia and there was a cruise critic on our van and he said the same thing. I am sure he will write something as well about the ship.

We have all been on the Spirit and it was wonderful so I am not beating up on all Carnival ships. However, we have decided not to ever take another Carnival cruise again.

One night they had an entertainer that had appeard on MTV and other shows. He couldn't get anyone to laugh and kept walking around the stage trying to think of something funny. He kept turning his back to the audience. The best night of entertainment was the salute to the

Beatles.

There were very few slots for non smoking and by the 4 day it didn't make any difference.

Our waitress Tanya was good but not as good as others we have had on other ships.

We did have a problem with a noise in our room on day 5. Around 5:30am we could hear what sounded like scraping except it was constant. We couldn't get back to sleep. When we got back from breakfast it had stopped but we went to the Pursers desk to tell them about it. He asked if we had called when it happened and of course we hadn't. He said if it happened again to call while it is happening. The next night the same sound woke me up at 4:15am, so I called. They sent down housekeeping who said "yes you have a noise" and she would report it to the Pursers office. After an hour of the noise, I called the Pursers desk again and they told me it was a technical problem and they would have to send someone later to check on it because it was too early to call anyone. Of course they came in the afternoon after the noise had stopped. So nothing was settled. They did send us some chocolate covered strawberries. However, that did not make up for the lack of sleep. I was very disapointed in how they handled the situation. They did not seem concerned at all. So if you happen to stay on the Riveria Deck on the odd side of the ship, beware. And by the way all our friends heard the noise too. It just didn't wake them up like it did us.

Sorry to hear you did not enjoy her. Although I have only cruised twice, I had the best week of my life onboard the Miracle. I loved the entertainment (Ticket to Ride and the Jugglers were awesome,) my room steward and waiter were great (even though I only got to eat in the dining room once,) and I think that the noises can happen on any ship. There's always rooms that hear noises from cleaning, construction, etc. Regarding the smoke in the casino. I quit smoking in December and I noticed a lot of it as well. I don't mind it, so it didn't bother me, but I definitly understand how it can bother those that hate smoke.

I hope that whatever cruise you decide to go on next, you enjoy your time more.

That would be the Starboard side. Odd numbers down that side, even on the Port.

Any newbies reading this post need to take it with a grain of salt. When you see someone posting a "complaint" that is from a first time poster like this OP was, it's usually either A) A troll, or B) Someone that has a foul outlook on life and finds fault in everything and can never be pleased.

I sailed on the Miracle in '06 and loved the ship.

Disagree with you completely on that person has a "foul outlook on life and finds fault in everything". I had a bad experience on Elation, but the people/friends at my table had a great experience. I find a lot to enjoy in life, but my "opinions" and that is what they are, are different than others.

I think any information is good information, but do agree with you "to take it with a grain of salt". In fact, I think that is how I started my review is that it is only 1 persons opinion and meant as information only and take it with a grain of salt. I like to hear the bad with the good and then I don't get blindsided by anything that happens.

I had read bad reviews about the Elation and when I experienced some of the same things I didn't get upset, but just relayed on what I had experienced.

Good Post!

When i first posted about how terrible my (1st CCL) Victory cruise was, i was slammed..harshly. If i had a different personality, i would not have come back either. But i came back and responded to almost everything everyone put up.

I am a picky person, i know this. but i am not that picky and this cruise was a zero. I have been on 8 cruises and have found joy on all of them but this one.

Miracle in May is my second and i hoping carnival will prove that the Victory trip was just an enigma. I am so looking forward to it.

Thank you. It is all a matter of opinion and yes, some of us are pickier (more discerning, expect more for our hard earned money, however you want to say it) than others. That doesn't mean we don't find some enjoyment out of life. We just experience life differently.

My Elation cruise was not a good one, but I still enjoyed it (not so much the cruise, but the vacation). I was with wonderful people and not at home, cooking, cleaning and doing work - so there was something good, but I wouldn't go on that one again. I want my money's worth and to me it wasn't worth it, however the people I was with would go again if the opportunity arises. I didn't complain and make things miserable for them, I really enjoyed their company (they didn't even know my lobster was waaay undercooked and horrible), but I will spend my money and my time somewhere else.

I didn't say I wouldn't cruise Carnival again, but I won't for a while. Not so much because of Elation, but there are so many others to try and experience. In fact, I have never cruise the same line twice - yet. I just want to experience them all and then start picking my favorite, but that will be hard with all the ships and ship classes with each cruise line - 1 ship could be bad, but not make the whole line bad.

the funny thing about our victory cruise, we ALL felt the same way.. not just one of us.. initially i swore off carnival.. emotional reaction, but i am giving it ago again... Never had a bad cruise before.. hopefully never again..

I am with you.. i work hard for this.. i spend alot of money on board..in the casino...i want a good vacation!!!;)
