Rare Captain Funtime Posted March 10, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2008 I really enjoy Key West but it seems that the port calls there are always short when compared to others. Does anyone know why they don't stay longer in Key West ?

Does anyone know why they don't stay longer in Key West ? I feel Key West is one of Carnivals best ports. I was told that the ship have to be gone by sunset, and also there are no anouncements allowed when the ship is docked in downtown
deanaw72 Posted March 10, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2008 We were there for Christmas in 2003. Got into port around noon and left about 10 p.m. (or something like that). Maybe they've changed things since then?

Both time I was on the Celebration we were the first ship gone and the only one that docked downtown.

I also like Key West & have been there several times by land & by sea. A few weeks ago when we were down a ship was docked there. And it sure would have been in the way when we came back for the Sunset Celebration - had it still been there.

We were on a RCCL ship (majesty of the seas - 2002) that stopped in Key West downtown and that was the same answer - must be gone before sunset so as not to anger the locals! DqALEX Posted March 10, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 10, 2008 I cant wait to get back to Key West. I'm going on the Carnival Freedom over New Years and we stop back there. It takes a few cruises there to see most of it.
