KandCsailing Posted March 10, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2008 I'm trying to find an answer for a friend about what I.D. a widow of a Canadian might have to bring or get from the army to get the discount listed on the RCCL web site. The info below says PINK, but is this USA only? Thanks. (Spouses of actively deployed, or deceased military personnel, are eligible to book one stateroom as long as the eligible spouse is occupying the stateroom. All other guests traveling in the same stateroom are also eligible for the military rate. Spouse must present the PINK Dependent Military ID upon check-in as proof of eligibility.) *CENSORED* Posted March 10, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2008 The pink I.D. is for U.S. military dependents. If her spouse was Canadian, I am sure they have something similar. She should have this already.
KandCsailing Posted March 10, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted March 10, 2008 Thanks, both are/were Canadian. She was widowed not too long ago and I was just trying to find the right form or id name for her.

Trust me, it isn't as easy as they make it sound. We've been on several cruises and are still "waiting " for our discount..
smoothy Posted March 10, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2008 I think the card she should ask for is the DND 2262 (dependant's ID card). Best bet to get further info would be to contact Veteran's Affairs.

Actually, it is really simple. When you book, you get the military discount, if that particular cruise offers it, and all you have to do is show I.D. at the pier to verify you qualify. Not all cruises have the military discount available.
KandCsailing Posted March 10, 2008 Author #7 Share Posted March 10, 2008 Thanks, at least I have something to tell her now. She does have a rep she can call, but no harm in asking the all-knowing CC posters.:D

orchidj5 Posted March 10, 2008 #9 Share Posted March 10, 2008 just for clarity-the ONLY american military folks who have PINK ID cards are the spouses of National Guardsmen and reservists-so i dont know why RCCL uses that on thier site-the card can be white (soldiers, airmen, sailors and marines) Tan ( active duty dependents) Pink ( reservist dependants) or Blue ( retirees and their dependants). They should not define a specific card in their requirements.
Puffinater Posted March 10, 2008 #10 Share Posted March 10, 2008 Retired dependents do not have blue ID cards. I am looking at a retiree dependent card and it is tan.
