St. Vincent is an eco-tourist's paradise (fantastic scenery, unique wildlife) but it does not have the large white sand beaches that make other islands much more popular as tourist destinations. There is a small white sand beach in the area called Villa which is also the location of Dive St. Vincent with whom you can arrange snorkel trips. Young Island resort is just opposite.

The tour company infrastructure on St. Vincent is not large and you would be best to make arrangements in advance. Hazeco is one reputable firm that will take you by boat to the Falls of Baleine and include a snorkelling and picnic stop on a calm, mostly deserted, black sand beach. Dani and Norris at gotalife@caribsurf.com will give you knowledgeable land tours and throw in great beach BBQ - Montreal Gardens is a don't miss in my book and the Hadley Orchid Farm is fun too.

Another alternative, if time and schedules permit, is a day trip to Bequia which has wonderful beaches and good snorkelling right off the beach both at Lower Bay and Friendship Bay. There is a choice of beach bars at Lower Bay and there is a hotel beach bar at Friendship Bay. Taxis are reasonable and reliable. Note that the local currency is EC$ and preferred. US$ will probably be accepted but your change is likely to be in EC. Credit cards are good also (but not for taxis or the ferry!). The ferry schedules and rates are available at http://www.bequiatourism.com.

Hope this helps
