grannie cruiser Posted March 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2008 Which railroad trip would you recommend in Skagway--White Pass and Yukon Route or Chilkoot? Or are they the same? And what length trip should we do? Should we book with Princess or on our own? Any advice will be very helpful--thank you.
Budget Queen Posted March 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2008 There is only one railroad, White Pass and Yukon Route. Chilkoot is a tour operator providing independent touring options. You need to decide what you want to do. There is round trip train, with is loaded with history and scenery. One way train/bus, three different options. Essentially a "round" trip with taking the train to the end and returning via bus. This does not get into the Yukon. Train/bus Yukon trips. Offer a nice mix, with independents having more "freedom" and more personal tours. Smaller group. There is a longer train to Lake Bennett and bus. This would be a must for rail fans in my opinion. :) Also a great scenic trip. Read descriptions for the details.
