Books Posted March 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2008 After 2 cruises, I am tired of packing the tea-length gown and cocktail dress from my sons' weddings for formal nights. Also I want something that will pack easily without worrying about wrinkles. I have bought a pair of black formal pants - the type with a sheer layer over a lining with an elastic waist. Any suggestions for what type of top to wear and where to shop? I am 60 years old and want something that will look attractive for my age. Thanks for any help you can offer. Chigirlcruzin Posted March 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2008 Nordstrom has a lot of styles. You could also try Macy's, Bloomies, etc. Any department store should have formal tops.
Houndmom Posted March 29, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 29, 2008 Since the pants have a sheer layer, I'd go with something other than sheer fabrics and find matte jerseys with sparkly embellishments, satins with shine, raw silks with nice textures, you get the idea. Here are some ideas for you :) http://www.dillards.com/endeca/EndecaStartServlet?N=1604010 Chico's has some easily packable things, but some aren't as dressy: http://www.chicos.com/store/shelf.asp?ppp=54&navCatID=100&navItemID=1 http://www.chicos.com/store/shelf.asp?ppp=161&navCatID=4&navItemID=1 http://www.chicos.com/store/shelf.asp?ppp=63&navCatID=3&navItemID=1 Good luck! cb at sea Posted March 29, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 29, 2008 I wear sort of "slinky" evening gowns--they are made of jersey-type materials, or have sequins or sparkles--and they don't ever wrinkle! Those "chicos" tops are not eveningwear!

I have a great pair of evening trousers I bought 7-8 years ago at Cache and still enjoy wearing. They are black matte jersey, with a waist that sits just below my natural waist and a panel of the same fabric that drapes like a skirt in the front and has black silk fringe. I wear it with a black beaded top with cutaway shoulders, or a copper beaded halter sweater shot with black or sometimes with an animal print dressy top. I love how eaey they are to wear and how flexible to accessorize.
janetz Posted March 30, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 30, 2008 I love those pants and have 2 pair. Beats a gown-dress anyday. I am into "comfort" when I cruise. If I wear a gown I find myself running back to the cabin after dinner to change. :)
