Any thoughts on wether we should head out for the day to sunset beach resort or just hang on the cruise? I can't find anything else in MoBay that seems appropriate for kids except for maybe going to a Negril beach for the day. Thoughts? Also, does anyone know if you can just decide to go to sunset that morning, or do you have to prebuy?

Was there in november 07.We had a great time. The water slides are awesome,my 8 yo son loved them.It was 40 per adult and 20 for children. But it was all you can eat and drink.Yes you can make your mind up that morning, just take a cab over(5min. ride) and tell the man at the gate you want a day pass. They will escort you to the office to pay and get your wrist bands. The lunch we had was ok not bad but not great either,it was an outside buffet. When we were there they were doing some construction which left the place kind of sparse with people. The beach is a 5 minute walk from the slides, but we stayed at the slides most of the day.I would go again if we got back to M.B.Hope this helps.Mike.

Well I'll just tell you what I did, I stayed ON the Freedom of the Seas. And it was the first time we had ever done that in all of the cruises.

I looked at it this way, all of those excursions (the ones listed above) have age minimums that were far above the ages of our kids. So unless we wanted to go on a shopping tour (have NO desire to do that in Mo Bay) or to tour the island (the kids had no desire to do that)...then our only option was Sunset Beach.

Sunset Beach would have been (at $40 per adult and $20 per child) $120 for our fam of 4 not including the cab ride.

So I could go to a resort where I am paying for the food (inclusive) OR I could sit on the BEST floating resort in the world (the food would be better and FREE) and stay on Freedom of the Seas. :D

Honestly if I was on any other type of ship, I would have ventured off on a tour of Mo Bay. But there was just no reason to. And there were MANY people who made the same decision as we did.

And when we did venture off the ship to get more sunblock and the locals were screaming at us through the slats in the windows at the port building (trying to get us to come out an buy whatever they were selling) then I was glad I decided to stay on the ship.

We were at Sunset Beach last year 2/07 on our land vacation...I have to tell you that if I were you I would stay on the ship and save money and have the ship to yourselves. It is not worth the money and islander are NOT friendly and VERY pushy.

I hope that this helps.
