Luckyus5 Posted September 29, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2004 We are on the Tahitian Princess on 10-14. We cannot wait! Making all the final arragements, and I was wondering do you get better conversion rate with cash or travelers check, and is it best to exchange on the ship? Thanks for any info. laurieb Posted September 30, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2004 I just read somewhere that travellers checks had a better exchange rate.
Toto2Kansas Posted September 30, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 30, 2004 Hi, we are on the same sailing with you, come on and join our roll call on the roll call board. Looks to be a great trip. As for exchanging you can cash the TC's onboard and exchange there or in one of the ports. I hear that lately the rate is better onboard the ship. Not long now before we will all be in paradise, can't wait to return.
laurieb Posted October 1, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 1, 2004 I'm looking forward to hearing all about your trip! It makes the wait so much more bearable to know that someone else is there having a great time :)
Kathy Z Posted October 1, 2004 #5 Share Posted October 1, 2004 On August 20, the exchange rate at the bank we used at the Papeete Airport was about 1% better for American Express traveler's checks than for US currency. And the rate was better in Papeete than if we had used the currency exchange in LAX even taking into consideration that there is a one time transaction fee of $4 plus change at the PPT bank. (I exchanged $200 which was more than was needed for our 19 days in FP.) Remember to keep some CPF for your final day if you want to ride "Le Truck" and 100 CPF coin for luggage cart at Papeete airport.
