My husband (whos not going with me on my gils weekend cruise) wants me to use the American Express for the sign and sail card/room key. Problem is my name is not on it. Will they take it?

Probably not. My father and I own a business together. On our recent cruise, I was going to use one our business credit cards and the one I had with me had the company name, and his name printed on it. They questioned it and would only take it when I he came over and gave permission. To be safe, I'd take a card that has your name on it.

Even if your name is not on the card, if you get added to the account they should be able to call and verify that.

Failing that, just bring a big wad of cash to secure the account. You can get a cash advance on the card if you want to use that credit. There may be a fee for the advance but it is better than having problems at the port.

Amex usually wants to charge a pretty penny to add another user. I would take the card and try. When you present it, DO NOT ASK or MENTION that it is in his name. If you ask, I can tell you right now, the answer is NO FREAKIN WAY.

But, to be safe, make sure you have another credit card ready.
