gdpups Posted April 7, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2008 I'm planning a cruise with a group of lady friends and we always like to get balconies next to each other and open the doors between them. I just read somewhere that RCL will not do this now, is that true?? Dee
Chitoryubt Posted April 7, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2008 I just got off the Serenade yesterday. I asked "Barbara" at the desk at Guest Services to please ask the Captain, as I was told by RCI customer service that it was up to the Captain's discretion. She told me she would ask him and would get back with me. She never did get back with me, so I believe she was just telling me that to get me to leave. Physically, the balcony divider bolts have been painted over numerous times. It looks as if they have NEVER been opened. Sorry . . . we managed to have a great time, and hopefully you will too! pmfan Posted April 8, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2008 I think you may be out of luck on this request. But you can always try.
Apoggi Posted April 8, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 8, 2008 I was on last week's Serenade too and someone asked the Captain at one of the gatherings he attended about opening the dividers and he said it isn't done any more.
cb at sea Posted April 8, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 8, 2008 The dividers don't have "doors" or hinges--they are all bolted together, and in some cases, actually part of the ship's hull. That's why, if they did open them, they would have to stay opened the entire time--no closing them when you want privacy!
