sail7seas Posted April 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2008 Your nephew, Lonnie Paxton, is taking part in Red Sox opening day ceremonies. Along with other Boston sports champions, he and a few teamates carried the Superbowl Trophy and each has a Red Sox World Series champ ring box for the championship players.!! (Thought you'd like to know!) Beats me how to make this cruise related. :) Just fun as there are lots of Boston/New Englanders on this Board. kakalina Posted April 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2008 How's this? I am trying to talk them into a cruise. Wouldn't that be cool? Thanks so much for letting me know. I wasn't aware at all and will check it out.
sail7seas Posted April 8, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted April 8, 2008 I watched the 'ring ceremony' live and they announced his name along with Teddie Bruskie and other Patriots; Bill Russell, Danny Ainge etc from Celtics; Bobby Orr etc from Bruins....... They all carried their respective trophies and ring boxes for the Red Sox players. Great ceremonies IMO Why not try to get all the Patriots for an HAL cruise??!!! We ARE SO THERE if some of the team was cruising. :) It would be impossible to keep DH or me away!
kakalina Posted April 8, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 8, 2008 I'm afraid they would have to double the provisions on the ship with the entire team aboard! Those boys can EAT!! It would be great fun though. I'll keep working on him.
RetiredMustang Posted April 9, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 9, 2008 Sail, The best part, I think, was Bill Buckner throwing the ceremonial first pitch. Quite a few years of pain for him I hope are over now. Dave
sail7seas Posted April 9, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted April 9, 2008 ABSOLUTELY, DAVE. It was dynamite when he walked onto the field. He was so emotional. Local news showed some clips of wonderful interviews. It has been very painful for his family all these years. He, at first, refused the invitation to do this today. Said he thought about it some more and changed his mind. He had a great career playing ball and all the press remembers is that one play! *** Of course, winning today was also a highlight.....not to mention the Yankees LOST!!! ;)
