Very basic question...

Recommended Posts

Carnival is requiring you to be there 2 hours before set sail if you do not have your fun pass, or 1 1/2 hours before is now required (as of 2/1/08) if you have all the online docs.

Some ships have had to sail late because folks were not aware of the new rules and had late planes coming in on RCL, dont know if Carnival will wait.

I think its some new coast guard or something ruling not up to the cruiseline.

What is the latest we should arrive at Port Canaveral on the day we set sail?

From the Carnival website:

Government regulations for U.S. departure ports require that a final departure manifest is submitted 60 minutes prior to departure. Guests must provide us with the required information prior to embarkation. The easiest and most convenient way is to complete our FunPass on line registration process (www.carnival.com/mycruise) at least (3) three days prior to departure. Guests that do not complete the registration process prior to embarkation are required to check-in at least 90 minutes prior to the published sailing time.

If you have filled out the Funpass I believe the recommended time to be on board is thirty minutes prior to departure.

You have to be checked in to be on the manifest 60 minutes prior to departure, so 30 minutes doesn't hold up. Now, in a port call, you have to be back on board 30 minutes prior to sailing. that said, apparently if they know you are one the way, they might wait. My last cruise out of Jacksonville, I was watching out the window from the Bistro during the muster drill, and saw about a dozen people hurrying up the gangway ten minutes AFTER sailing time...EM
