shawn&angie Posted April 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2008 Been reading conflicting information regarding Joining Balconies. We will be sharing a joining room with my Mother for our Alaska trip and was wondering if they still allow you to make your balconies join? Read something that said this has changed so I was not sure how this will work.
Marie51 Posted April 14, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2008 Do you mean that you have connecting cabins with a door inside the cabin going into the other room? If so, that is your connection, not the balcony.
shawn&angie Posted April 14, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted April 14, 2008 Yes our cabins are connecting. I thought there was a way to also make the balconies connect. This is all based on my reading here though
PhoenixCruiser Posted April 14, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2008 It depends on the ship, some dividers don't open. And for the ones that do open it is up to the Captain, some allow it, some don't. Let us know your ship and hopefully someone can answer your question. ###

teese Posted April 14, 2008 #13 Share Posted April 14, 2008 I sailed 3/23/08 on the Mairner, my DH, and our two kids were booked in adjoining balconies. When we arrive we asked to have the divider opened and the attendant said the new policy was they could no longer be opened. I called guest relations and was told they had recently had a safety inspection and the inspectors had told the captain that this wasn't the best policy. The captain decided to change the policy and they would no longer be opened even for families like ours. They we very apologetic. This was also Easter week with 1,188 kids onboard and a large crowd of college kids so this may have played a part in his decision. But I definetly heard the lady at guest relations say this was the captains decision, so hopefully 1. other captains will not follow suit, 2. Captain Johnny will again change the policy on his ship.
