Anyone take the metro rail to NYC before. We are from upstate NY and are thinking of taking the metro rail from poughkeepsie? It's much cheaper then amtrak from Albany. What are your experiences and also how far is grand central from the pier?:)

You must mean Metro North which is a commuter line> Not as luxurious as the Amtrak train from Albany but it is less expensive and will do thejob.

 

Grand Central, on 42nd and Lexington Avenue/Park Avenue is a short cab ride from the Manhattan pier at 55th street and the Hudson River. If you do this make sure you leave Grand Central on the 42nd street exit as this is where the cab stand is.
