Help - Star suites

I'm hoping someone can help me. I haven't cruised on NCL in over 7 years and am booking Alaska on the STAR. Can't decide to go with an AC at the very front of the ship or a suite on the Aft of the ship. Any advice would really help out. Thanks in advance to all of you professional cruisers!!!!

I haven't been in the suites but I have been to Alaska. So much of it is spent SLOWLY cruising through the glaciers you'd be able to be out of your private balcony looking at it all. I love aft cabins, but in Alaska I personally would rather see the granduer as it approaches. However I think it will be too cold and windy on sea days to be out there.

when i did alaska, on the star in 06, i missed a whale sightings (from the ship) only saw a couple of small whales that a swam right under my balcony. someone, on my same cruise, got a good view from their fwd balcony. depending on when you go on how much you will need to bundled up to go out, but the view would be great. the star doesn't go to glacier bay, any more, but even in tracy arms..you get longer views of the glacier, looking ahead. (aft would be great, but at the glaciers, you have to wait for the ship to turn before you see the glaciers)

We've had front balconies twice. Mostly you are moving quickly and they are pretty much unusable. But in Alaska I would think it would work really well. Take a good look at the deck plan though. We were on deck 10 both times. Once we were the second Penthouse from the port side. The other time we were in the Starboard O/S and my parents had the Penthouse right next to us.

We found that the room we had several years ago was a better size and layout than the one my parents had on this past trip. Also, because that suite was directly under the bridge we had some shade as well as sun. This would be good in Alaska - you'll be shocked at how easily you can burn even when it is so cold because of the reflection off the water and glaciers.
