Cruise Critic article about weddings

I just read the article and it stated that Weddings have become so popular on some ships in their fleets that Carnival and Royal Caribbean both levy surcharges for certain times of the year. Does anyone have more information regarding the above statement. Thanks MEG

We were charged a $100 surcharge for our June wedding with Carnival.

When we priced our January 2, 2008 wedding through Carnival, the surcharge was added as well. We ended up using a coordinator in Barbados, but that's neither here nor there.... ;)

yup, I think its may june and july on carnival there is an extra 100. plus if it on some holidays there's even more?? I don't have that packet in front of me but it was stupid. Our package was originally priced at 875 but because it's may we paid over 1000 after taxes and stuff.:( dumb carnival. We're barely using their services... GRRRR

From February 11th - February 18th $150

All month May and June $100

Maybe it's just me, but the surcharge doesn't seem that out of line. Landside wedding vendors do stuff like this all the time -- charging more for weekends, holidays and popular times of year. And usually, it's a whole lot more than $150! Still, I know how all these "little" charges add up, and it sure can be frustrating.
