jstducky Posted April 2, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2004 i just had an intersting thought... its daylight savings this weekend... do they observe daylight savings in the caribbean? if so, does that mean that people currently on cruises where daylight savings is observed, lose an hour of their cruise?!?!? or does that mean in the fall, certain people get an extra hour in their cruise?!?!? i just thought it was something to think about... jstducky! ----------------- ...til 9/04 - Jewel of the Seas - Canada / New England ==================================== ...til 7/04 - Zuiderdam - Western Caribbean ===================================== 7/03 - Zaandam - Alaska 4/03 - Norweigan Star - Hawaii 7/96 - Noordam - Alaska 7/96 - Golden Princess - Alaska 8/95 - Jubilee - Mexican Riviera
DFritz Posted April 2, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2004 It depends on the ship and the cruise line as they set their own rules. They do let the passengers know when time changes need to be made. They usually leave a notice in your room. I would always hope for anything that would extend my cruise. 'Til my next cruise
breal6 Posted April 2, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2004 I've been on six cruises when the change was made one way or the other and yes all of them changed the clocks at 2 a.m. this would need to be done in order to stay in time with the departure port. this is assuming your departure was made from a u. s. port. now while i lose an hour in the spring i book the right week in the fall to gain it back. lol PROUD MEMBER OF THE PPS jewel 11/04 in Splendour 01/05 in
Cloudmaster Posted April 2, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 2, 2004 This time of year it makes your cruise 1 hour shorter. In the fall, one hour longer!!! mbisson Posted April 2, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 2, 2004 Gee, no more spring cruises for me (during the switchover). I'm only gonna sail during the fall, set back clock time, when I can get more bang for the $. LOL -Monte some of my cruising photos: http://community.webshots.com/user/m1bisson A bad day cruising is better than a good day at work. The worst cruise I ever took was pretty damned good. The length of a day is still 24 hours whether you move the hands on a clock or not. mbisson Posted April 3, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 3, 2004 Actually, when they move the clock ahead that day really only has 23 hrs in it. And when they move them back that one will really have 25. Unless, of course you cross the intl date line. Then all bets are off. -Monte
