Star-Man Posted April 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2008 Hi guys, I know its been a while since i have been around here but ive been pretty busy with uni and also not particularly into cruising at the moment. Anyways, i was just looking through some new photos of ship spotting.com and came across this photo http://www.shipspotting.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=627198 What caught my eye was the white, blue and yellow of the ship in the background and sure enough, it is the star. Albeit with "puke-manturs" bright red funnel.

When everyone else you know (including the GF and her family) are going on one and you arent, its easy to fall out of it :(

And if anyone's interested, the ship that's the actual subject of that photo was formerly Pacific Princess, one of the original Love Boat's. shellberight Posted April 25, 2008 #8 Share Posted April 25, 2008 Hey, I was on the Oransay in 1973. It was my very first cruise, I blame my parents for giving me the "cruise bug". Am about to sail on my 17th cruise in July on Norwegian Sun. To me "it's the only way to fly"

Not sure about the other ship... Will have to ask Martin, 'twas him who told me that it was the former Pacific Princess.
Star-Man Posted April 26, 2008 Author #12 Share Posted April 26, 2008 Not sure about the other ship... Will have to ask Martin, 'twas him who told me that it was the former Pacific Princess. Chez is right. Pulmantur did own her but she was called "Pacific", interesting to see she is gone because she was one of their more recent purchases. The old PP's sister, Island Princess is still cruising as Discovery as far as i know.
karmac Posted April 27, 2008 #13 Share Posted April 27, 2008 She looked pretty rusty when we saw her in Noumea in November. I had this photo printed and she looked 10 times worse than she does here http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2246950130089661373OhJMnP
