puddytat Posted May 2, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2008 Hi planning to go on Westerdam next year Alaska roundtrip. Any recommendation on verandah suit booking. Stern/Port, Front/Rear What to avoid and what to recommend. Thanks.
Bill S Posted May 2, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2008 Welcome to Cruise Critic! We have not cruised on the Westerdam yet, but have cruised on two of her Vista-class sister ships, and have also been in a Superior Verandah Suite (Cat SZ, SY & SS) and a Deluxe Verandah Suite (Cat SC, SB & SA). Both the Superior and Deluxe Verandah Suite cabins are great--spacious, lots of storage/closet space, large verandahs, double vanity in the bathroom, separate shower stall and tub. We have no preference as far as aft, mid-ship or forward--have cruised in all locations. However, my best suggestion is to study the deck plans for the Westerdam and look what is above the cabin or cabins you are considering. A lot of HAL regulars will avoid those verandah cabins which are located directly under the main section of the Lido deck (mainly the pool area) due to chair and table noises. especially in the early mornings when the staff are moving them around. The Verandah Suite cabins which are under the Lido Buffet are ok as are those well forward in the pool area. Regardless of location, they are all great cabins, but there are few aft cabins, in the SZ category, I believe, which have extra large verandahs. Hope this helps and that you have a great cruise.
