so, i could probably google this, but it seems there are definately some experts on this board......

what's the best way to clean a snorkel and mask? i haven't used mine in a a little less than a year - and unfortunately, it's been in the back of my husband's car for a little while. so, besides dipping it in water, i'm wanting to know if there's a better way to clean the mask. thanks!

Not knowing how dirty the back of DH's car is, I'd say use vinegar to remove dried on dirt or water marks followed by a 1/50 solution of bleach water to kill any germs. The bleach water needs to contact all surfaces for at least 30 seconds, then rinse thoroughly with cool water. You may find that time spent in a hot car may have already dried out the silicone skirt of the mask and it may leak now when you use it.

The classic tried and true method for removing the protective coating from the lenses of a new mask is T'Paste with a T'Brush.

Try that. At least it's unlikely to harm the mask.

The rest of the mask is vinyl and rubber. Both are sensitive to detergents. For that part, I'd stay with warm water and a mild dish soap.
