You were actually right on. It's hard to find a balcony !!!

All the good VD cabin we are interest that accomodates three (yes, infant count as one) are on the Starboard side. They did have a couple left on the Port side but in awkward location (partially interfered view.....). Man, still a year away from sailing. Grabbed the good starboard side cabin. Thank you for your tip anyway.

IMO which side on a r.t. matters very little, except for those people who intend to do their glacier viewing from their own verandah. I'm not one of them. :)

We prefer to get the big picture on the deck too. But DD will still be practically an infant. Just in case she fall in sleep, we can safely view the glacier with narration from the balcony while she sleeps inside. But , that port side option is not available anyway. Please DD, stay awake !!

We were on the Westerdam last week in two adjacent starboard VD cabins. The location was great. We spent most of the day at Glacier Bay on the bow deck and then moved to our balcony when the ship turned starboard side to the Marjorie Glacier. The starboard side ended up having the longer viewing time and many more calving events than the port side. So it will depend on the day which is the better side. We checked out many of the open decks that day and decided that the viewing was best from the lower locations. The bow was great and the promenade deck was good when the ship was turned sideways to the glaciers.
