cruise1985 Posted May 4, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2008 Hi all, I'm looking for some opinions from those who have been on any of these ships. This cruise is for a small group, experienced cruisers and first timers. Our dates are limited for May 2009, so our only choices are: Fantasy 5 day (Progreso & Cozumel) Triumph 7 day (San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Maarten) Enchantment 5 day (Key West, Cozumel, & Belize City)
lcpagejr Posted May 4, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2008 Have been on the Triumph and Enchantment(when Enchantment did 7 day cruises)....Both were wonderful cruises. Enchantment was lengthened a few years ago and is a larger ship now. You can't really go wrong with either. There are many posts which lists the pro's and con's of each cruise line...Basically they are pretty even. To me , it would come down to itinerary, pricing and length of cruise. You will probably find you can do the Triumph cruise for the same $$ as the Enchantment and get 2 extra days
citcatt1 Posted May 5, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2008 I've never been on the Enchantment, but I've been on the Fantasy and Triumph and I'd pick the Triumph.:)
bonnys Posted May 5, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 5, 2008 I would go for the Triumph, if prices are all similar. More days for the buck!
nolaAlive Posted May 5, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 5, 2008 Fantasy will have an extreme makeover this fall and will be practically brand new. Plus, you can't beat cruising from New Orleans! ;)
jwlnroe Posted May 5, 2008 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2008 I would go on the Triumph 7 day. . those ports are awesome to see. I've never been on the Fantasy but i've been on the Imagination one of the sister ships and that was a very nice ship as well. . plus the fantasy will have the waterpark and adult serenity upgrades by the time you sail so that might be a plus if you are taking children. Hope that info helps.. Cozumel is a nice port.. never been to progresso.
debster11 Posted May 5, 2008 #7 Share Posted May 5, 2008 I would do the Triumph mainly for the itinerary. I love the Eastern Caribbean plus you would probably pay the less for the Triumph for 7 days as you would on Enchantment for 5. I was on Enchantment and it was ok but the cabins in my opinion were smaller than Carnival. Either way you will have fun no matter what cruise you decide on. Stevie17 Posted May 5, 2008 #8 Share Posted May 5, 2008 I sailed on Enchantment last summer, and it's a beautiful ship. That being said, if you can sail on the Triumph for 7-nights, I'd pick that one hands down.
dragonflymy2000 Posted May 5, 2008 #9 Share Posted May 5, 2008 I would choose the triumph becasye of the itenery. Ive been on the ship and fell in love with cruising becasue of her. I have done the key west, cozumel route a few times and the water is no where as nice as st thomas...have fun whatever you choose
cruise1985 Posted May 6, 2008 Author #10 Share Posted May 6, 2008 Thanks for all the input! I'm hoping we can make the Triumph work to get an extra two days, but leaving on a Sunday may not be possible. I like to arrive a day early for cruises, so it makes me nervous to have to come in on the day of for the Triumph (a group member has graduation on Saturday). For those reasons, I'm leaning towards Enchantment. Traveling to FL will be cheaper than NO. I couldn't believe that Carnival didn't have any 5 days leaving from FL on that particular Monday. sa7776 Posted May 6, 2008 #11 Share Posted May 6, 2008 I have been on the Fantasy and the Enchantment. Personally I liked the Fantasy better. I just liked the layout better and the cabins are bigger. Even though the Enchantment has been stretched and was a beautiful ship some of the public rooms retained the smaller ship feel to me, especially the casino. That said, having sailed on a Conquest size ship and having done the Eastern Caribbean before, I would pick the Triumph if you can work it out with your schedule and price. martek Posted May 6, 2008 #12 Share Posted May 6, 2008 Carnival has the larger cabins than RCL and the Triumph is a much larger ship than the Fantasy. We have sailed the Fantasy class ships before and they are nice, but I am anxious to sail the Triumph and experience the larger area. Also anytime you can get a couple of extra days for the same price, go for it! We are actually booked on that May 10th sailing next year so maybe we'll see you there! PINEVIEW01 Posted May 7, 2008 #13 Share Posted May 7, 2008 I would pick Triumph for the more days. But, I'd rather have the Fantasy as I like that class ship better. If the Enchantment is the same as the Radiance that was a nice ship to. I just like the bigger rooms on Carnival and usually less $$$
jawas Posted May 9, 2008 #14 Share Posted May 9, 2008 I sailed on the Triumph last June on my 2nd cruise (first was on Carnival Imagination). I really enjoyed the Triumph, and I loved the itinerary and the fact that it was a 7-day cruise. The forts in San Juan were interesting, great for pictures, and we had some great views of the water (we walked around easily on our own). I also enjoyed the stop at Half Moon Cay - we had a huge "picnic" lunch, which was brought over from the ship and set up buffet style - that was a pretty nice day. I was impressed with the service on my first cruise and the cruise on the Triumph didn't disappoint me. Our room steward was always friendly, and I remember that when I didn't see my suitcase after the posted time the first night, it was safely placed INSIDE my stateroom after I inquired. I thought the entertainers were really great (I saw a really entertaining magic show - geared for kids and adults, and the main song/dance duo was very good). I noticed a lot of similarities between the two ships - decor, floorplan, but I expected that. Usually, if I'm hanging out on a ship, not working or doing housework, I'm pretty happy :p Also, last year on the Triumph was my husband's first cruise - and he absolutely LOVED it! jayscore Posted May 9, 2008 #15 Share Posted May 9, 2008 I've done the Triumph twice because it's "more bang for the buck".
