tylerswifey Posted May 6, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2008 I was wondering if anyone knows of a coach store or store that carries authentic coach bags in Grand Cayman? Thanks!
cb at sea Posted May 6, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2008 ANYTHING you buy in GC is going to cost a fortune! That's a VERY expensive island!!! You're better off going online and buying directly from Coach!
tylerswifey Posted May 6, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted May 6, 2008 Thats what I have heard :) However, when I bought a coach bag in St Maarten, there was no sales tax, so technically I saved some money compared to buying in the US. Just trying to find a special gift. Thanks!
Coralc Posted May 6, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2008 Even without tax, you are going to pay much more for a Coach bag in GC, than you would other places. Last time I checked it was about 25 cents more per dollar. (It's probably more now) So $4 Cayman dollars will be $5 in US. :(
BNBear Posted May 6, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2008 We were there in December - the didn't see any Coach purses (I was sort of looking) but did find Fendi ones - no bargains - even with saving the sales tax.
drew sailbum Posted May 6, 2008 #6 Share Posted May 6, 2008 The exchange rate is fixed at CI$4 = US$5. While the US$ exchange rate floats gainast many currecncies, it does not float against the US$. As the US$ has dropped in value on the world market, so has our CI$. :( Finally, on several occasions requests for information on Coach bags have been made on this board. I did a search seeking the ground truth and visited several places. The reality is that there used to be a Coach store in GC, but no longer. You cannot find genuine Coach bags here. ksjserv Posted June 15, 2008 #7 Share Posted June 15, 2008 I looked for the Coach store when I was in Grand Cayman last summer but it was gone.
