Rare Captain Funtime Posted May 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 9, 2008 Howard Frank, Carnival Vice Chairman, just on CNBC said Carnival is not ruling out further increases in the fuel surcharge but does not see a food surcharge (due to increasing food costs) because they have food contracts. Earthworm Jim Posted May 9, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 9, 2008 A food surcharge would be even more idiotic than a fuel surcharge. Both food and fuel are part of their cost of doing business, so just include it in the cruise price. What do we care how many of our dollars are going to fuel, food, the captain's salary, the price of the ship, or to paint the funnel. We don't care. Just tell us the bottom line cost. sassy0930 Posted May 9, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 9, 2008 HAH, but then they'd have to pay out on that money in commissions to TA's. If it's a "surcharge" they don't have to pay on it. THAT'S why. but that's makes sense. If they are charging me extra I want it all to go where it belongs.
JediSkipdogg Posted May 9, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 9, 2008 If they are charging me extra I want it all to go where it belongs. Have you asked for a detailed bill? Did it have the captain's pay on it? I agree that it's stupid that they have the fuel surchage. Fuel isn't going down anytime soon so it's not like the surchage will ever be coming off. They should just add it into the regular price but as someone mentioned, I guess it's less they can right off in other areas.
TEXASMUNK Posted May 9, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 9, 2008 Add it in, that we we can pay even more since they have to increase the fuel costs to cover the commissions paid onthe fuel surcharges. Really great solution!!!
