State Russian Museum

Has anyone visited the State Russian Museum? We are trying to include it in our itinerary if possible even for a short visit. Is canal trip a must?

I have been to the Russian Museum and I have done the canal trip. If you think you might like seeing the Russian Museum you should definitely do it. The canal ride is enjoyable and a different view, but I think you will find the Museum more memorable. If I had to chose between the two I would chose the Museum. Actually I am hoping for a return visit there. Now I am assuming you would be going with a guide. Our guide made it so much more meaningful and our time there flew by very fast. This of course is just my opinion.
