Luxuriate Posted May 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2008 I have booked our first Princess cruise. We have sailed many times before but never on Princess. The best available cabin for my cabin category (AC) on Emerald was D723, directly across the hall from the laundry room. Now, I have to admit, I have sailed mostly on Celebrity where they don't have laundry rooms. You send every thing out to be laundered with the stewards. Do you think the noise/traffic around the laundry room on our 10-day cruise will get to me? This truly is the only concern I have about our upcoming cruise. NeurosurgeryNP Posted May 12, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2008 I don't think it will be a big problem. I have used the laundry facilities onboard and you have to go through 2 heavy double doors in order to enter. It wasn't noisy before entering the doors either. I don't remember the doors slamming shut either.
Julia’s Journey’s Posted May 12, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2008 Shouldn't be a problem with noise and there are certain hours that the laundry room is open.
can786 Posted May 12, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2008 I was directly across from the laundry one time on the Star Princess and we never heard a thing. It would have been very convenient if I had needed to do laundry. I would not worry at all about the location.
Toto2Kansas Posted May 12, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 12, 2008 We have found a bit more traffic around the laundry rooms, but nothing to really concern yourself about. Plus, when the door is closed to your stateroom, you won't even know it's there. And since they normally close and lock the laundry rooms between 10-11 in the evening, there shouldn't be any type of traffic or noise problem whatsoever during the night. We have sailed on a couple of ships where we specifially wanted a stateroom by the laundry (longer cruises and before we qualified for Elite free laundry) and never had a problem one with them. Colo Cruiser Posted May 12, 2008 #6 Share Posted May 12, 2008 Princess has some pretty soundproof cabins. :)
Luxuriate Posted May 12, 2008 Author #7 Share Posted May 12, 2008 This really was worrying me. I kept wondering if I should pay more and get a different cabin. Thank you for helping me out and fading my fears away. Cheryl
paul929207 Posted May 12, 2008 #8 Share Posted May 12, 2008 The laundry room is open from 8am to 10pm each day. The only problem I have heard of is when people get into fights over the laundry facility. I have heard of fights when one person was late coming back and another removed the first person's stuff from a washer or dryer. Also, fights over who is next. But these rarely happen. Putterdude Posted May 12, 2008 #10 Share Posted May 12, 2008 Given the number of machines in the laundry rooms you shouldn't have any problems with noise or traffic.
tuffgong Posted May 12, 2008 #11 Share Posted May 12, 2008 We were just on the Caribbean this past weekend and our room was directly across the hall from the laundry. Absolutely no problems with noise at all.
LisaH Posted May 12, 2008 #12 Share Posted May 12, 2008 It would bug me...as a past user of these laundry rooms, they get a lot of use and the door opens and closes a lot. I believe there is a sign to keep the door closed. Sometimes the door was shut and sometimes open. I do think though that the room closes at a certain hour but not sure. irishj&m Posted May 13, 2008 #13 Share Posted May 13, 2008 We were across from a laundry room and never heard a sound. There are two heavy doors and they worked.
