Hi! I am new to posting and am hoping to get some great advice. We will be cruising onboard the Legend. Any tips while on the ship, or at any of the four ports? (Belize City, Cozumel, Roatan and Grand Cayman)

Thanks!

Lisa, There is a great thread, it may be a couple of pages back, about the Legend. We will be sailing on the Legend in October. The best thing to do is check out the port of call boards - that will give you an idea of what would be best for you and your family in each port (beach, zoo, shopping, turtles, etc). Also, check out the roll call for your sailing - you can make friends with people who will be cruising with you and find out what they are planning to do.

Cruising with a 2 year old- I can't help you with that. The youngest I've cruise with is a 4 year old. And there's a big difference between 2 and 4! Enjoy planning your cruise!:D

My son, DIL and 2 year old GS came along on our Glory cruise. They brought a stroller, his pack and play, the over the door shoe organizer, baby monitor (we had 5 balconies together) and a few of his favorite toys. Magnetic letters are his favorite and he played with them on the bathroom door and the balcony:

They talked to him several times in advance about the lifeboat drill and having to wear a "watch" all week; he did fine with both. As an added measure, my son wrote their cabin # on his leg in marker; just in case he ever got away from them. We waited until the very last minute to go to our muster station so that we would be in front of the "pack" and not against a wall. He was entertained reading the letters on the floor! We are no longer required life jackets to wear them down to the drill, instead they ask you carry the life jackets, put them on for less than a minute, then take them off and carry them back. Same when I was on the Legend last month.

They took him to dinner a few times as well. Our waiters were AWESOME! They asked my son and DIL what they would like them to have ready for Cole each evening and it was the first thing served. They left him at Camp Carnival two nights for dinner as well. They LOVED Camp Carnival on the Glory; can't speak for it on the Legend.

The family boards also offer lots of great tips for cruising with children.

We took our 2 year old on the Destiny several years ago. She loved it and we had a great time. We did use Camp Carnival when we thought it was things she would enjoy, but we didn't burn her out on it. We used that time for mommy and daddy time (casino, bars, etc.;) ) We took her to dinner every night in the formal dining room, and the waiter was great with her. He would even bring our DD bite sized appetizers to try while waiting on her burger (she ordered a burger every night )

I think they key to taking a two year old is to realize that your life will be better if you make time for them a nap and some down time. If you don't and you go-go-go until they are exhausted you end up with a bawling exhausted child and you get a lot of glares  If they are not potty trained (mine wasn't) they have to use the kiddy pool, but that was fine and overall we had a blast! She slept in the bed with us at night and it worked fine.

Good luck!!! :D

We went on the Valor in Nov 2007 with my 2 year old. We had a great time. I will tell you what we did and what we would do differently.

Grand Cayman-Turtle Farm & 7 Mile beach. Both were fun.

My son loved the turtles. He loved playing in the sand on the beach. Bring sand/water toys. buckets, shovel, etc. We didn't and bought one on the beach-it was the last one and it was $15. We rented some chairs & and an umbrella.

Roatan-We left him in Camp Carnival. I was a little nervous after some of the reviews. We visited an orphanage, toured the town, had lunch and went back.

Belize-we went to Cumcumber Beach. It is a man made lagoon. He played in the water and in the sand.

Cozumel-we left him in Camp Carnival again. It was raining, windy and cold. We walked around a little bit, had lunch at Los Palmas went back to the ship.

**Roatan, is not that scary-he would have had fun. I wish we would have been able to do the dolphin excursions or the submarine.

**Belize Cucumber Beach was okay.

More of a lake with brown water. not the pretty blue Caribbean water. They have another beach they can tender you to. Cucumber Beach they were doing some constructioon adding some cool features-however, I think the water will still be brown.

They did have a restaurant with food and drinks that were not only reasonable but very good.

**There are SO many cool things to do in Cozumel. Had it not been for the weather we could have done so much more. Mother nature let me down!

Hope this was helpful.
