Windjammer cafe is a casual buffet style for all three meals. You also have Johnny Rockets, not sure if there will be a fee or not. As for Portofino's my understanding is that men must wear a suit coat and tie for dinner there, and women should wear a nice dress.

As for formal night, you will see some people in tuxes (not too many these days) and a lot of men choose to wear just a dark suit. Some people go for the suitcoat and tie.

Each cruise I have been on varies. I pack my husbands black suit for the first one, and either his olive green or grey suit for the second formal night. If I find that people didn't dress too much on formal night, then he has a "Trio suit" which is a solid jacket that comes with the solid pants to match and a houndstooth (sp ???) print pants that can go with the jacket and looks really nice. This allows me to pack the one jacket with the two pants under it.

I bring 1 suit and 3 shirts and 3 ties. I wear it all on the 2 formal nights and the semi formal (if they still have it) I wear either the jacket with no tie or the tie with no jacket. This is the 4th cruise for the same suit.

I think if you read other posts concerning Formal nights, smart casual, etc. you will find it's pretty much a "do as you like" when it comes to what you wear. Since some 20% seem to either not understand the dress code or choose to ignore it all together what you plan to wear will fit in fine. It's going to stay like this until RCL (and many of the other lines) decide it's time to enforce what they suggest. At least you want to throw the tie on, many don't. When you get your tickets they will spell out what you should wear on each night. As many will say what part about the word "Formal" do you not understand? I think the only place they may draw the line is shorts and tank tops on formal night however I've seen it seem to sneak by without notice and the guys that don't follow the code get the same food I get who does follow the code.

You can eat basically the same food selection at the Windjammer in buffet style and it's caual everynight but still a no shorts rule at night. Ports and Chops is the same.

The following can be found on RCI’s Web Page:

What are the dress codes onboard?

There are three distinct types of evenings onboard: casual, smart casual and formal. Suggested guidelines for these nights are:

Casual: Sport shirts and slacks for men, sundresses or pants for women

Smart Casual: Jackets and ties for men, dresses or pantsuits for women

Formal: Suits and ties or tuxedos for men, cocktail dresses for women

3 to 4-night cruises include one formal night and two or three casual nights.

5 - nights include one formal, one smart casual and three casual nights.

7-night cruises include two formal nights, one smart casual night and four casual nights.

10, 11, and 12-night cruises include three formal nights and three smart casual nights, all other nights are casual.

14 and 15-night cruises include three formal nights and four smart casual nights. All other nights are casual.

We appreciate your usual parental guidance and cooperation in observing these easy guidelines with your children.

Thanks for posting these guidelines. They seem so simple to understand and should be a guideline to packing. You read it here, you read it again when you get your tickets and you read it again in the Compass the night before yet some 20% still don't get it. They will show up wearing what they feel is best for them.

At Portofino's they do "suggest" semi formal attire. So we ate there on semi formal night, so as not to have to "dress" semi formal on another night. Worked out great and all men in Portifino's that night had on sport coats or suits. Was nice to see everyone go by the suggested dress code for this restauraunt.
