Substitution?

Sailing 2 weeks from today. 3 people in my cabin. One might need to cancel -- (family member with health issues -- doesn't look good). The person who might need to cancel does have insurance and it will cover. But, my question is: would it be possible for someone else to cruise in this person's place to avoid cancelling? If so, how close to sail date can the substitution be made?

If it is possible, there may be a fee involved for the name change. Please do not wait until the last moment as there is a possibility that no changes will be allowed within the last 72 hours prior to sailing.

This is something you need to ask the cruise line about. Some will allow substitutions and some will not. There will definitely be an extra charge for any changes and it must be done at least 72 hours before departure.
