When should you arrive at the port in Manhattan??

We cruised out of Manhattan on NCL Dawn a few years back and we were there quite early. What time should we arrive so we can assure that we get a parking spot and not run into the poor people that have to leave our ship so we can get on!!

Also, how can you tell how many ships are there at the pier in Manhattan?

Thanks so much

http://www.nycruise.com has a calender that shows how many ships are scheduled(the different color ones go to Brooklyn)...

You have to be at the pier by two and aboard one hour before the ship sails. The later you come the less likely you will hit people from before. Normally you can board around 12. I aim to get there myself around 11:30 and get aboard for lunch normally by 12:30...

Parking has never been full and with the recent parking increases it probably will never be.
