There is a neat Aquarium in Key West. When we were there we were able to touch a small shark (handler held it) and then we watched a feeding of sharks in their outdoor containment area. The part I liked best was the incredible array of colourful fish and the fascinating seahorses.

The Aquarium is very close to the Dock. After that a stroll up the street and a stop at the Key Lime Pie store for a treat would probably be well received by your grandsons.

The aquarium is nice. But it's small and not comparable to the big ones you would see in a big city (Chicago, Philly). But my 3 and 6yos enjoyed it. We were able to walk from the ship easily. Then we saw a sign for the Ripley's Museum and walked the few blocks there. That was ok. There were a few things that the kids really liked, but most of it didn't interest them too much. We had a short day in KW, so that and lunch was all we were able to do. I also looked into a glass bottom boat ride. We will likely do that if we ever go back.

Check out the Pirate Soul Museum, the Buttefly Conservatory, the Florida Eco-Science Museum, the Glass-Bottomed Boat, a bay cruise on a schooner, the Trolley tour of the entire town, climb the stairs of the Key West lighthouse and tour the lighthouse keeper's cottage right beside the light house.

 

The Butterfly Conservatory is one of my favorite places in Key West.
