Three Quick St. Maarten Questions

1. Is it still fairly easy to get by using the US dollar on the Dutch side?

2. I'm hoping to go to Maho beach while I'm stopped there, and I'm planning to use a taxi to get there. My one concern is getting back. Are there plenty of taxis driving by that area, or should I arrange a pickup with the taxi that drops me off?

3. Finally, has anyone been to Maho lately? From what I've seen in pictures the beach can "disappear" at times and become quite rocky. Anyone know the current conditions?

Thank you very much in advance for your help. :0

1. Yes - no problem.

2. The little restaurant/shack there will call a taxi for you if needed.

3. It's definitely not the best beach. I would eat and watch the planes come in but lounge at another nearby beach. The planes are definitely the draw.

Just there last week. We just hailed a taxi to return to the ship-give yourself at least and hour for return if your ship leaves at 4:30! We did ask the driver that took us there to pick us up at a certain time. Of course he never returned . $18 for two to get there.\

The beach was decent with some big waves.

Cokes $2 at little bar.

Big jets right at 3pm wathc about 5 landings than make a run for the ship!
