SMRivera198 Posted June 6, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2008 Hey all, hubby and I are booking Crown Princess to eastern Caribbean in January of '09 and neither of us have passports. I have no idea how to go about getting them and how long it takes (i've heard VERY long) Sorry I know I could just google this, but everyone on this board is so helpful and informative, it seems you guys always have the answers ;) Also, we are still deciding between an outside room or a balcony (most likely balcony) but I don't know which area of the ship is best. I'm a little nervous about motion sickness so which spots would be best in avoiding this? Ohhh one more thing... does anyone know what the temp in eastern caribbean is usually like in January? Is the water warm enough to snorkel, swim etc.? Sorry for silly questions, I'm still pretty new at all of this :o ~Sara
LARGIN Posted June 6, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2008 Passports are no easy to get and do not take a long time, however I would go now. For the application, go to your local post office. They have all of the forms and instructions there. Get a balcony and if you are nervous about motion sickness stick to the middle of the ship on the lowest deck that has a balcony. As for the temp, it should be very warm.. Enjoy your cruise..
sunvalley cruisers Posted June 6, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 6, 2008 Hi Sara, Here is the web site for the post office. There is a link at the bottom right to do a search to find the post office nearest you that processes applications. http://www.usps.com/passport/ It's very easy and the application process is taking less time than a year ago but do get on it right away. Also, if you have a Costco membership, they take passport photos for about $4.00.
cage keeper Posted June 6, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 6, 2008 We went to the Post office in the fall and had our passports in two weeks. Very fast. We did fill out the online form and took them with us. They took the photo right there.
Toto2Kansas Posted June 6, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 6, 2008 Here is a link to the online passport form you will need to fill out. Very simple and easy to apply for. And I might add, definitely worth the effort. http://www.travel.state.gov/passport/forms/ds11/ds11_842.html

Enjoy. :)
