Diamond - Help with Mexican Riviera Ports

First of all, I'm also going to post this on the port board, but thought it might be appropriate to post here more specifically as well since the Diamond is in Cabo at least such a short time compared to other ships.

1. PV - We're planning on doing the early AM Canopy tour through Princess. Supposed to get back at 12:30. Will we have time to go to a beach? Is there one in walking distance or do we need a cab? Where will we return after the canopy tour (just to the ship?). We don't sail until 6, so I'd like to spend some time at a beach. Also, I think this is a docking port, am I right?

2. Mazatlan/Cabo. Basically, we'd like to do a tour with some beach time at one of these ports, and go to a beach on our own at the other port. Snorkeling is not necessary for extra $$, but I'll do it if that's the best excursion. Which of these ports is easier to go to a hotel/beach area that we could walk to or take a cab to easily and just hang out by a pool, beach, eat, etc? If we do the beach in Cabo, we're thinking of the combined tour in Mazatlan that does shopping, beach, lunch, show. Is this any good? If we go to a beach on our own in Mazatlan, we were thinking of the Lands' End boat tour and beach visit? Again, any input? Also, do you dock in Mazatlan and tender in Cabo? That worries me more about Cabo since we're there so briefly. Any other excursion suggestions for Cabo?

I'm traveling just with my 60-something Mom and neither of us are big drinkers, so not looking for Cabo Wabo, or similar. More just a place to relax by the water suggestions that are easy to get to.

Thanks for any help!!

marciemi we are on the Diamond Nov. 6 and have booked the excursion you spoke about for Mazatlan - the shopping, show, lunch and beach. The beach time (according to the cruise line) is at an all-inclusive hotel and we have had great success with these in the past. We figure an afternoon somewhere with a nice beach, food and drinks (alcohol and non-alcohol) included would be perfect. We will certainly let you know how we find it however I suspect you will have to of booked your tour prior to our sailing.

If you decide in PV to do something other than the beach we highly reccommend a walk of the Malecon, lunch at PiPi's and of course the market is always fun. I saw somebody post something about the Krystal hotel for P.V. so you may want to check out that.

As for Cabo, we're in the same boat as you, not being able to decide what to do as it is such a short time in port. We will await some of the feedback you get. Yes, you are tendered in Cabo and docked in Mazatlan and P.V.

Sue and Kent

mazatlan--go to stone island on your own for $1. go early have the place to yourself, then go downtown by cab to shop after lunch. Cabo go to Lovers Beach (water taxi)--great snorkeling there or go to the beach in town (walk).

jdechter - I'd love any details on those. Is Stone Island a beach? Is the $1 for a cab, or an entrance fee? Is there only one "downtown" in Mazatlan? How much will a cab there run for 2 people? Is the water taxi in Cabo easy to find? How much is that? How long of a water taxi ride? Thanks for any help!!
