Danish viking Posted January 20, 2013 #4401 Share Posted January 20, 2013 The hotel is ranked 12 out of 111 hotels. As far as i can see then it would be best to order a room away from the elevator because its a old listed building so the walls are not so soundprof but the hotel is working on it. http://www.tripadvisor.dk/Hotel_Review-g189541-d232099-Reviews-Savoy_Hotel-Copenhagen_Zealand.html#mtreview_146292967

tupperny Posted January 20, 2013 #4404 Share Posted January 20, 2013 Danish Viking Thank you for all of our useful information. We are coming in August--6 of us total including seniors. We would like to do an all-day tour which includes the 2 castles. Suggestions? I read of one that leaves from Tivoli Gardens (We are staying at Clarion Mayfair) which is nearby our hotel. Thanks for any input. Bill
Bellarose Posted January 20, 2013 #4405 Share Posted January 20, 2013 Hi Danish Viking, I am also asking about a tour like the post above. We are a family of 4 and were looking for a private tour guide for the day. We are coming in off a ship for the day. We were thinking of doing the HOHO bus, but at other ports we have really enjoyed a private tour. Could you recommend anyone? Thank you! Northbay Posted January 21, 2013 #4406 Share Posted January 21, 2013 Hi Danish Viking: You had mentioned a while back that there is luggage storage at the train station. When taking a taxi from the port to the train station, can you tell me, please, which station would we ask the driver to take us to so we can store our luggage before touring Copenhagen? Thanks in advance.
Danish viking Posted January 21, 2013 #4407 Share Posted January 21, 2013 @ tupperny I can find these trips, but if you want to venture a little bit for you self then just buy the Copenhagen Card instead and save alot of money. http://www.sightseeing.dk/sys/details/?category=1&tourid=48 http://www.stromma.dk/en/SIGHTSEEING-TOURS/Castle-tour/ Here is some info about Copenhagen Card. The new deals are ready in March but transportation is covered, Frederiksborg usually is but i don´t know the new deals with Kronborg when the maritime museum moves out of the castle but lets hope both places are covered with the card. http://www.visitcopenhagen.com/book-your-stay/copenhagen-card One way you can do this yourself is by taking the S-train towards Hillerød (On weekdays its line E and in weekends and public Holidays its line B) http://www.dsb.dk/global/pdf/koereplaner/s-tog/2013/dagk%C3%B8replan%20h%20og%20w%202013.pdf From here you either walk or take bus 301 towards Ålholmparken or 302 towards Sophienborg Alle/Sophienlund and get off at the bus stop Frederiksborg Slot. Timetable for 301 and 302. http://www.moviatrafik.dk/dinrejse/koreplaner/Pages/Buslinje.aspx?direction_gid=9014200030110000&line_gid=9011200030100000&line_name=301&tab_name=Stoppesteder&journey_gid=9025200000005857#navigate http://www.moviatrafik.dk/dinrejse/koreplaner/Pages/Buslinje.aspx?direction_gid=9014200030210000&line_gid=9011200030200000&line_name=302&tab_name=Stoppesteder&journey_gid=9025200000030589#navigate http://www.dnm.dk/UK/Forside.htm The walking route is here. http://maps.google.dk/maps?saddr=Hiller%C3%B8d+st,+Hiller%C3%B8d&daddr=55.9305289,12.301073+to:Frederiksborg+Slot,+Hiller%C3%B8d&hl=da&ie=UTF8&sll=55.930705,12.30373&sspn=0.014641,0.038581&geocode=FYtgVQMdkNm7ACnr50g9uUBSRjFOHajvrpSZwg%3BFaBuVQMdEbO7ACkb3HkalkBSRjF1jDN0PSsPnA%3BFcV_VQMdxrO7ACHAJHeBOkgFXinhQSl2l0BSRjHAJHeBOkgFXg&oq=frederiksborg&t=h&dirflg=w&mra=dpe&mrsp=1&sz=15&via=1&z=15 On the way back you can either walk or take the same busses back to Hillerød Station. From here you take the Lokalbanen train towards Helsingør and you can get off at Fredensborg to visit that castle or continue towards Helsingør where Kronborg (aka Hamlets Castle) is located. http://lokalbanen.dk/Files/Filer/Planer/LB_Koereplan_Ll.Nord_2012_web.pdf Fredensborg Palace is located very close to the station in Fredensborg town so its not a long detour. http://www.ses.dk/en/SlotteOgHaver/Slotte/FredensborgSlotOgSlotshave.aspx?sc_lang=en http://maps.google.dk/maps?saddr=Fredensborg+st,+Fredensborg&daddr=Fredensborg+Slot,+Slottet,+Fredensborg&hl=da&sll=55.930705,12.30373&sspn=0.014641,0.038581&geocode=FSQlVgMdZlC9ACn_qIk_4zhSRjGRWyldNdHm1g%3BFag3VgMd8yS9ACH91LAHgBgXHilz3vZE4DhSRjH91LAHgBgXHg&oq=fredensborg+slot&t=h&dirflg=w&mra=ls&z=16 There is no public transport to Kronborg from Helsingør station so you have to walk up there even though the distance is almost the same as in Hillerød. http://www.ses.dk/en/SlotteOgHaver/Slotte/Kronborg.aspx?sc_lang=en http://maps.google.dk/maps?saddr=Helsing%C3%B8r+st,+Helsing%C3%B8r&daddr=Kronborg,+Helsing%C3%B8r&hl=da&ie=UTF8&sll=55.97906,12.401325&sspn=0.007311,0.01929&geocode=FaUBVwMdVnvAACmTsUiVEzFSRjFwfQaEBHiKjg%3BFaMWVwMdG5fAACE2QPHBzcMBwinj5eSLDTFSRjE2QPHBzcMBwg&oq=kronborg&t=h&dirflg=w&mra=ls&z=16 You are here in August and since the new Maritime Museum in Helsingør opens on the 29th of June you can also visit that one, and its located next door to Kronborg. http://www.maritime-museum.dk/english/default.asp On the way back to Copenhagen you just take the Øresund train back to Copenhagen. http://dsboresund.dk/files/Dokumenter/koreplan/DSB_OEresund_Mini_7_til_www_9.12.2012.pdf All the train lines are visible on the first page in the S-train timetable
Danish viking Posted January 21, 2013 #4408 Share Posted January 21, 2013 @ Northbay If you just ask for the central station most drivers will know what you mean. The official names is København H (short for Københavns Hovedbanegård) and that literally means Copenhagen´s Main Line Station. But most Copenhageners will just call it Hovedbanen (but that means main line) or Hovedbanegården. http://www.hovedbanen.dk/index.php?id=24 The luggage storage is located next to track 12 so ask the taxi driver to use the entrance by Reventlowsgade or track 12. cavcmy Posted January 21, 2013 #4410 Share Posted January 21, 2013 Hi, Danish Viking! The search feature is not working again, so if not too much trouble can you tell me estimated cost of taxi from Hotel Bethel/Nyhavn to the Freeport Cruise Terminal for 4 people with 4 suitcases? Thank you so much for your help. Carley
Danish viking Posted January 21, 2013 #4411 Share Posted January 21, 2013 Somewhere around 150-200 DKK will be a good guess, so 40-50 USD. There are no extra fee with luggage but you might consider ordering a station wagon/estate Car instead of a saloon/sedan car.
