Booked Our Next Cruise

DH and I booked our next DCL cruise for May, 2009. It will have been 6 years since we last sailed with Disney. I was just curious if anyone had any tips on things that have changed since 2003. For instance, I know that we will be able to book shore excurisions on-line, but I'm not sure what else has changed.

There have been changes on both ships, you didnt say which one you are going on?

 

Both have a jumbotron movie screen by the family pool. I think it is 20 x 24 feet or close to it. They play movies, cartoons,sporting events and show the audience at the outdoor parties on it.

 

wonder also has a new splash area for toddlers in swim diapers and has remodeled the decor of the buffet since you have been.

 

Probably some new shows on both ships since you have been.\

Magic has Twiced Charmed, Disney Dreams, The Golden Mickeys plus comedians or jugglers or magicians to entertain.

 

Wonder has a new Toy Story show, Disney Dreams and Golden Mickeys if your on the 4 day.

 

also both ships have the Pirate deck party, where guests dress a spirates at dinner (optional) and through out the deck party and a buffet with fireworks shot right from the ship at sea.

 

 

The Magic has Ocean Quest for the kids of all ages. it is a virtual reality area where kids can dock the ship and more. Wonder doesn thave it yet.

 

Also both ships have expanded their Spa and Workout areas over the bridge area of the ship, so NO bridge tours accept a movie they show on the jumbotron screen.

 

Our

first cruise was 6 years ago also and back then at the buffet they didnt even have salt and pepper onthe tables, they do now.

 

 

 

The teen area, The Stack is now in the funnel where the sports bar use to be. The sports bar is now in Diversions which use to be Barrel of laughs club.

 

Both ships now have Goofys galley where you use to get free ice cream. The ice cream is just behind Goofys galley now. GG is lots of fresh fruit, sometimes pastas or wraps to eat.

 

They do have different game shows to play than back then.

 

I know there is more but cant think of any more right now.

 

Oh you can take lap tops now they have hot spots around the ship where it will work, of couse you still pay for it.

couple more things:

 

The Wonder doesn't have a house band anymore, plus no steel drum band by the pool areas, but they do have Duo in the Promenade lounge for live music,

It is all recorded music on the clubs. I hate that change!

 

The Magic still had a house band the last time we went but no steel drum band. still has duo in Promenade lounge.

 

 

Castaway cay now has 2 paved bike trails and one trail has an observation tower for a great view of the entire island.

 

 

walk in, dont take the tram if you want to have photos taken with Captain Jack Sparrow, times in your Navigator. awesome photo with the flying dutchman in the background.

of course the flying dutchman is anchored at CC now too.

 

New dinner menus a couple of times they have changed them.

 

More sugar free desserts than they use to have, both ships.
