Beckster Posted October 13, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2004  Going to san juan, st thomas & st marteen week of oct 23rd, wanting to know some simple ways to see each of these islands. Would like to snorkle, but not a long day of it or any other long tour. Dont really like to go on city tours on a bus, but enjoy shopping for gifts and seeing some culture things. Any tour offerings right off the ship? We have cruised in the past and usually just book something on shore and have had good luck doing this. Any suggestions would be appreciated ! :)
alcpa1 Posted October 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2004 I think that you will have "NO PROBLEM, MON" getting a taxi tour at any of the ports you mentioned. If you have cruised before then you surely know to engage your driver and firmly set the financial parameters for your island tour. If you are scheduled to arrive in SJU in the afternoon you may not have time ashore to tour before dark. We have never arrived on time there, unless we are sailing out of (and disembarking from) SJU. There will be plenty of drivers in STT and SMX. One of our favorite stops is SMX. We have done the taxi bit at least 8 times and never had a bad driver. Have a wonderful cruise. Beckster Posted October 14, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted October 14, 2004 :) Thanks so much. So hard to decide sometimes what to do. Hate to get stuck somewhere and not make it back to the ship. We have rented a taxi on Mazatlan and had a good tour.
coppertop Posted October 14, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 14, 2004 We just returned from St Thomas at the end of Sept. We booked a tour of the island with Godfreys tours and were quite impressed. There were 7 of us and we literally emailed Godfreys from the ship the day before we got to St Thomas. He promptly emailed us back and set up a meeting time. Even though it took us an hour and a half longer than we expected to depart the ship(customs delay) Godfreys was still waiting for us and didnt charge a bit more . The guide was professional, informative and fun. We saw so many great sites and thought the price was more than reasonable. This was one of the highlights of our vacation.
