Samantha Brown and Carnival thursday

I was also very disappointed. She didn't show all of the best parts of Carnival. I was very surprised that she didn't go to any of the shows. I also was surprised that none of the dancing waiters were portrayed. (I know many people do not like the waiters, but there are many who do.)

I saw the "dancing waiters" in a youtube video and I thought it was fantastic. I was laughing.

Having only sailed Triumph and Valor, I don't really know how accurate the portrayal was of the Imagination (or was it Inspiration?). Anyway, to me, one of the reasons why I choose to take 7 day sailings is because the ships are bigger, and that I feel like there would be more to do and see (both on the ship and in port).

The only thing I raised an eyebrow at was when she just spoke with the tour guide all nonchalantly and he just LET HER take off on her own...does anyone think that would actually HAPPEN?

Actually as far as ship activities, the options that you had on Triumph are about the same as what you would see on Inspiration. On second thought there are more options on Inspiration with waterworks and serenity adult area.

The problems is, they didnt highlight that, for whatever reason.

Not a chance a tour operator would let you take a dune buggy out for a spin on the east side of the island. Im sure in the coming months, many who book will be asking to do just that :D

What was up with the two inspiration ships at the dock???? Did I miss something?

They were probably 2 other Fantasy class ships. They're the same size. I know the day I go to Cozumel there will be 3 ships total. (Imagination, Inspiration, and Holiday)

Samantha Brown was on the Emerald Princess this past February. She's a tiny person. When they were filming they blocked off areas. She does in-cabin infomercials for Princess. I haven't been on Carnival for a few years but curious if the same holds true that she is a spokesperson for this line too since they are under the same umbrella.

They are wonderful. you can't please everyone. But i hate it when the few whine and complain about everything that is there for them to do ! You don't like the waiters. don't go to that dinner. hate the ice carving. Then DON'T go. You have a choice, but don't ruin it for the rest of us

I was a bit disapointed as well. I think I was expecting more detailed overviews of what was on the ship, maybe more in depth info as opposed to a quick weekend getaway overview- could have done without the piano bar duet. I also felt she didn't cover Cozumel very well either, and as was already mentioned, it was unrealistic to have her just "take off" in the dune buggy. I felt the commercials and emails we received promoting the show gave the impression that there was going to be more info than there actually ended up being. I have enjoyed the other cruise shows that she's done, and was surprised at what a let down this one was.

I agree that the show was different from the other shows she does, and it was not a deconstruction of the ship - the cabins, the food choices, activities, and other attractions. But I get the feeling that this show isn't going to be about that.

It's hard to tell because this was the first episode of the "Long Weekend" series, but my take is that this series is going to be more about her take on a weekend getaway or a relaxing 4 day weekend to a location.....not a point by point travel review like she's done in the past. If that's the case, then all of us expecting a 'review' of the ship were never going to get what we expected.

I guess we'll have to see what the next few episodes of this new series are like before we'll know.

I thought it was funny, and I do appreciate her sense of humor. It's a shade corny -- but then, so am I :D

I teried to watch this show all the way through but lost my appetite after I discovered the show was all about Samantha Brown and very little about the cruise ship she was traveling.

I'm sorry, but I have normally liked her travel adventures, but this one made me want to jump through the TV and strangle her.

I was starting to get disinterested in the show a few minutes into it when it looked like the show was all about Samantha and not the ship. Used my channel changer option to click onto a channel offering rerun movies for a few minutes then clicked back to the travel channel.

There was Samantha again showing everything about Samantha and very little about the ship.:(

Guess I completely lost interest at the point when the cameras were zeroed in on the ice carver on deck. Those of us who have ever seen this know how skilled these carvers are. They are amazing.

Show featured a few seconds of the skilled ice carver vs three times as much footage of Brown pretending to carve into the ice. Few seconds more into the footage and Brown is having her pic taken with other pax on board and ``bemoaning'' the fact that she was getting more notriety than the ice carver. And she was actually laughing about it. Give me a break.

This show was all about Samantha and very little about the cruise industry.

Samantha, if you are reading this, those of us who love to travel love to see the places where you travel but we really don't care how you look in a bathing suit, how cute you can giggle when the cameras are on you or how much footage of the show is centered around you.

She focused on a fun relaxing cruise..........think Carnival is trying to redirect the party ship atmosphere once again.;)

Let's not forget that Sam has no control what goes on the cutting room floor..........

Well whoever does forgot to read the Carnival press release about the show. What I saw had only a passing resemblance to this:

" Carnival Inspiration – the first “Fun Ship” to feature the line’s hugely popular “Evolutions of Fun” enhancements – will be showcased on Travel Channel’s “Samantha Brown: Great Cruise Weekend” which premiers Thursday, June 19 at 10 p.m. (ET/PT).

The one-hour show is hosted by Travel Channel personality Samantha Brown who takes viewers on a tour of the many new features aboard the 2,052-passenger SuperLiner, including its expansive Carnival WaterWorks aqua park, Serenity adults-only retreat and the redesigned main pool.

A highlight of the show is Brown’s exhilarating ride down the 300-foot-long tube water slide which serves as the centerpiece of the Carnival Inspiration’s massive water park.

During the show, Brown also takes time to play a hand of blackjack in the casino, indulges in a relaxing treatment in the renovated Spa Carnival facility, and even takes a turn as the featured singer in the ship’s piano bar.

Other areas showcased within the program include Carnival Inspiration’s myriad full-service and casual dining options and wide variety of entertainment and live music venues, including an elegant multi-level theatre showcasing lavish revues.

Cameras also followed Brown as she participated in a dune buggy excursion in Cozumel, one of the featured ports on Carnival Inspiration’s year-round four- and five-day western Caribbean cruises from Tampa."

That pretty much sums it up what they showed in the time allotted. Except I don't recall seeing the theatre showcasing the lavish revues.....oops must have gotten cut......

Like someone mentioned it is geared to her relaxing weekend getaway series........

Absolutely unbeliveable........Are some of your people EVER pleased with anything?

Just how much do you all expect them to fit into a hour long show with almost half of that time being commercials? I thought it was suppose to be about her relaxing weekend, not a detailed showing of a Carnival ship.

And like OMG! She was on a cruise ship! I CANNOT believe they filmed her in a bikini!

Rediculous.

I believe that is exactly what they were trying to show. Letting people know that you can get away and have a nice relaxing adult weekend.

She even mentioned that with flashes of the party scene and kids all over the place. She mentioned that she opted out of that and wanted a more quite get away place. Hence the serenity area and spa;)

You can't compare this show with the Freedom show. That was a show about a brand new mega ship with all the bells and whistles and they wanted to show that. This was part of a series of relaxing weekend getaways........
