Cash, Travelers Checks, or Credit Cards . . . .

We also have one envelope of lots of one dollar bills, a few fives and a ten or two for tips.

Then one other envelope of twentys.

When we go into port I take some of each and put it into my coin purse, the rest of the cash stays in my cabin safe. .... just in case of a problem. I dont take a credit card into the ports either. If there was really something I wanted I could go back to the cabin and get more cash.

The credit card is just for when I am checking in on the ship. you need to show the credit card for your S&S card.

I use all three on my cruises. Most costs end up on the charge card both for the sign & sail and in ports. But there is a need for cash in the casino or in port (taxis, etc) and the total that I plan for is more than I feel comfortable carrying as cash and hence the travelers checks.

We use our credit card for the S&S card.

We cash traveller's checks for any cash needs, i.e. in port or in casino. This is partly so that we can follow our budget - a designated amount of checks are cashed each day and when that runs out, we stop spending.

We take small bills for tips up to and including the porters, then cash traveller's checks for any additional cash needs.

If and when we have extra traveller's checks left over at the end of the cruise, we apply them to our S&S account.

On our cruise last year, we took $300 more than what was on my budget, and came home with $300 in our pockets.:D

The simple answer to your question is .. Invested Well...

Having different methods is always a nice way. I do wish even the Passenger Cruise Terminal in Town MidTown accepted Discover card.. they only accept Master Card and Visa.

Debit Card, Credit Cards, Checks, US Postal Service Money Orders, CASH... American Express travelers Checks, Cooks..etc.. so many means and ways..

Having some different ways is always nice as some accept one way and not another... that way you do not have to incur additional fees and service charges for using your own monies...

Choice is a wonderful thing ...

How do you like to travel with your money while on a cruise? Which one do you find most convenient?

We take a small amount of cash and use plastic for everything else. A lot of places don't like to take travelers checks and when we go to europe we get a better rate on the card. We even pay the small fee to have money from the casino put on our S&S card.

I take a credit card for the Sign and Sail charges.

The rest is cash......I keep the extra cash in the cabin safe....I carry minimum cash with me ashore.
