Have you ever had a river cruise cancelled?

We are all signed up for an Oct. crusie with GCT but I know sometimes there are not enough bookings and a cruise gets cancelled. Has that happened to anyone here? What were you offerred instead? For this trip we used the tour company air so we would not have air ticket issues. I figure once we hit the final payment due date I can call the company to make sure we're on. But I know that the economy and the low dollar are making some people re-think their travel plans. I just hope our tour comes off as planned.

You are offered an alternate date, or perhaps an alternate vessel. If you're not doing your own air, you would be safe from penalties. I wouldn't worry too much about the economy causing a cancellation. It's my personal opinion that the river cruises are the absolute most cost effective way to see Europe this year! I would expect that everyone who plans to travel to Europe this summer and fall would be looking at the river cruise companies before looking at other ways of touring.
