queenofdnile Posted June 16, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2008 Has anyone been on the 4 night Nile felucca trip (11 day tour)? How primitive is this? What time of year is best? I've been to Egypt before on ship shore excursions. Thanks
travelbugs Posted June 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2008 We did a 12 day tour with a 4 day nile cruise last November, but the nile cruise was on a riverboat. We did a trip on a felucca one day. It's a very small open sailboat. I couldn't imagine spending more than a few hours on one let alone 4 days. Maybe they come in different sizes and we just had a runt. November was a perfect month. It wasn't extremely hot and we went over Thanksgiving so we didn't have to worry about who's relatives we were visiting!
Rare cruisemom42 Posted June 21, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 21, 2008 There are small and large felluccas. Still seem a little primitive for 4 days though. I'd rather be on a dahabiyeh, which is perhaps best described as something between a fellucca and a Nile cruiser. (Actually, they were the original Nile cruisers....) http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/14/AR2007121400818.html
