Mark36 Posted June 20, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2008 First time cruiser and we are Going on Independence of the seas and was wondering what a cabin right next to a lift would be like. Any extra noise/hassle Deck 7 7546/7548 any views please. Thinking about an upgrade to ajoining balconys but unsure. We are booked on Deck 6 1 x balcony and 1 x promenade at the moment. Thanks Mark and family.
cb at sea Posted June 20, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2008 There is no noise issue by being near the elevators. If you look at the deck plan, you won't enter the elevator from the cabin hallway side--you will walk around and enter from the inside hallway. No noise! But, very convenient! We LOVE being close to stairs and elevators--those are some loooooong hallways!
DonnaK Posted June 20, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2008 The elevator/stairs are in their own lobby, and the cabins are in a separate passageway. It's not so clear in the deck plans, but you shouldn't have any issues with noise. Having said that, we really enjoyed our deck 6 balcony with an inside across the hall, because it was a short hop down to the Promenade Cafe for coffee or a snack. If your promenade cabin is over a quiet spot like a shop, the cafe, the purser's desk, etc, then I would consider keeping your balcony/promenade combo. Just make sure the promenade cabin is not over the lounge/bar/club. On the other side, if the cost isn't that much more, adjoining balconies are very nice because you can ask for the divider to be opened and then you'd have a very long balcony to share. Rala Posted June 20, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 20, 2008 I agree with the posters above. We have had a couple of cabins near the elevators and have had no problems at all with noise. Those cabin doors seem to be very well insulated.
