Hyatt Regency N.O. anyone stayed??

Just got Hyatt in New Orleans on Priceline and was wondering if anyone has ever stayed there.

We stayed there two nights last year October before our Conquest cruise. It was great especially at the Priceline price of $50 per night. Go to the airport web page and get the Airport Transportation information. Book transfers round trip to your hotel and from the port. These New Orleans Tourist buses are the same that the cruise lines use for transfer at the port and the rate will be cheaper than taking a taxi. It is almost an hours drive from the airport even if there isn't much traffic. 1) Call the hotel in advance and Ask for a King non-smoking corner room facing the port. There is a stairway next to it thus no noise from neighbors. I can't remember what floor we were on but it was probably about 8. The room is the best kept secret. It has three huge windows. 2) They have a free trolley; it stops or returns from the Harrah's Casino and the Riverfront near the Jackson Brewery. 3) The St. Charles Street Trolley stop is about 3 blocks from the hotel. Hint; take it from there heading toward the French Quarter. Once it gets to its turn around stop, it will be packed- you will need the exact fare. We took the trolley early Sunday morning and got off at the Camelia's Grille for breakfast. Another New Orleans institution. Be prepared to wait and go as early as you can. When we returned, we just called the bellman and he got us a taxi to the pier - plan to board about 1:30 to 2 p.m. if on Sunday and it is a game day. Horrendous traffic. Oh, I had requested late check-out which was no problem. 4) Go on-line and look up Dixietours. If you book this tour on-line or by phone and "don't" use the conceriege, you will save $10. This half day New Orleans tour we took on the first full morning in NOLA. It gave you a great overview of just about all there was to know and see about this beautiful area. Nice mini-buses and great guides. You confirm from your hotel and pay during the tour. 5) This hotel is close enough for walking to the French Quarter in daylight if you are up to a good walk, but it is only about an $8 taxi ride to FQ restaurants. 6) The first full morning before our tour we walked about 3 to 4 blocks down the main street (I forgot the name of the street.) and crossed the street to go to Mother's for breakfast. Another instituition. 7) We tried to do it all and included a cruise on the Natchez. I would skip that if you don't have time. It was very boring. A stroll inside the Riverside Galleria mall Street Scene Gallery with unique wooden carved art. 8) We made reservations at Antoines (jacket required) and Tujacques for dinner. Both great. NOLA is a foodie town. It is hard to make a choice where you want to dine. Watch out for high priced drinks in bars that don't charge a cover at night. Our Hurrican'es cost us more than $25 for just 2 small drinks! Pat O'Brien's is a must; we went in the afternoon (no cover$) sit near the dualling copper piano's. Drinks and souvenir glasses there are great.

Thank you soooo much Nana for all the info. I just printed it out to add to my list of mustdos. I am sooo ready for this cruise and some warmer weather. Its freezin here this am...38...hopin to be able to turn those # around in a few days...LOL
