taxi fares in Ft. Lauderdale

Does anybody know how much a five mile cab ride (and maybe a shorter distance) will cost-one way from the FLL airport to our hotel (yet to be decided) and the next day from the hotel to the Port Everglades cruise dock? We are trying to decide either to cab both ways or just rent a car for a day.

 

Also, has anybody stayed at the Marriott Vacation Beachfront hotel-its seems to have everything we would need right on site; but it is a little bit pricey for just one night pre-cruise.

I'd suggest calling the hotel and asking them. That's what I've done in the past. Alot of hotels offer a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel.

Airport to FLL Beach Courtyard Marriott was $20.00 with tip and we arranged for a Private Town Car from the hotel to the Port for $21.00 plus tip (it was a much nicer ride than the taxi from the airport). Taxi fare might vary depending on traffic and lights as the meter was ticking.

Approximately $13 - $18 to the hotel, little less from the hotel to the port.
