Breakfast and lunch on Pacific Sun

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Being new to this cruise thing I am so grateful for this site and all the great advice. Thank you everyone for your generosity. I did a search on dining and I think I get the picture as to how dinner works, but I'm not sure about breakfast and lunch. Are they both in the dining room at a set time as well? Someone mentioned being able to get early morning croissants and coffee on the Lido deck, but are there other options? All responses gratefully received. Thanks.

Breakfast and lunch is available in the dining room, but not to a set time & table like dinner. You are seated on arrival like you would be at a restaurant.

Hi Calli,

Yes, the buffet on the Lido deck is usually open from about 6.00-6.30am. Tea & coffee (and in the mornings, fruit juice) are available from there also. Great for an early morning coffee and stroll around the deck. Food ranges from freshly baked pastries through to the whole egg & bacon thing.

The Lido deck food is good and plentiful but it is help-yourself bain-marie food so not quite as fresh as the restaurant meals. Other factor is that it is easy to suffer from the dreaded 'all-you-can-eat' syndrome where you load up your plate (because you can....) and then feel obliged to eat it all. Great way to stack on weight. By comparison, restaurant meals are portion controlled and quite reasonable and freshly cooked. And if you really want to, you can order more servings anyway. Much easier to control your weight eating in the restaurant.

Keep in mind that the restaurant staff are extremely obliging. While there is a set menu, you can vary it to your own particular tastes. If you want something prepared a certain way or additional extras, they'll try their damdest to provide it. Especially so for breakfast & lunch. So you can tailor-make your own breakfast menu. (within reasonable limits.)

Hi

Breakfast and lunch are both available in the Lideo buffet for several hours each day. As SoloNomad says, with croissants and coffee very early (to me), and then a huge buffet from 7.30 - 10.30 am. Then they pack up and clean up and the lunch buffet then starts and runs from 11.30 - 2.30.

Always food available.:) :)

Wow! Jenny and Solo thanks for your replies. That makes it quite clear now. I am so looking forward to this cruise. This is the first holiday we have had on our own - no kids, family or friends - since our honeymoon 36 years ago, so it's very special and while we hope to make some new friends, we should also get some time to ourselves. And no beds to make or meals to cook or anything that I don't want to do - so roll on 18/08/08.

Hi Calliopegirl,

As the others have already said, breakfast is available in the Bordeaux restaurant (at the back of the ship) and the buffet on Lido deck. The restaurant is open from 7.30am to 9.30, while the buffet is open from 6am to 7am for coffee and pastries, and then the full breakfast buffet from 7am to 11am. Lunch in the Bordeaux restaurant is from noon to 2pm. Hamburgers and pizza are available from 11am to 2pm, and the full buffet is from 11.30 to 3pm. There is no need to go hungry.:):)

Hi there,

I know this isn't food related, but I couldn't help but wonder about your name. Did you pick it because of the town Calliope in QLD??

I have a picture taken with a road sign with our family name on it in Calliope. The family have been in the district for quite a while now.

Sorry, it just caught my eye!!

Hope you enjoy your cruise.

Karen
