Buying flowers in Seattle for Cruise

I would like to buy some flowers to bring on our cruise in August. I have heard that you can purchase them from Pike Place Market and some will even deliver them to the ship for you. Has anybody done this and can give me the name of the place. I know we can carry them on ourselves, but I would like to get some for two rooms and that would be a lot to carry in addition to what we already have.

Thanks for any help!

Almost all the major cruise lines will have flowers delivered to your stateroom. Have your TA arrange it, do it on line, or when you get your documents there should be an order form.

Have a GREAT cruise!

You can fill out the form from the ship and they will provide you flowers but I don't think they will come from the Pikes Market. If you want them from the market then I would buy them and take them on board with you. Just bring a light weight market bag to carry them in.

I know I can order them through the cruiseline, but being CHEAP :D and having already paid a fortune for the trip, I was looking to get more for my money by buying them myself. I didn't know if someone had done this before or had a name of a place where I could get them. I have read on these boards of people doing this, but the search isn't working that great.

I don't have an answer for you...but it seems like people are missing your initial question...

OP wants to know if anyone has had a market vendor DELIVER flowers to the ship & if so which vendor.

Thank you! Yes, I am aware that I can buy flowers at the Market, but am looking to find out if they can be delivered and possibly a name of a vendor. We aren't going to have a lot of time to run around looking for vendors who will deliver flowers to the ship, so I thought I could save some time by posting this question here. And the other reason I would like to have them delivered instead of bringing them on myself is because it's a surprise for my in-laws who are traveling with us celebrating their 40th annv. and a 70th birthday.

No, sorry. Due to security issues, the cruise lines do not accept deliveries of anything to the ships that does not come from their contracted vendors. If you want flowers from Pike Place Market, and that IS allowed, you will have to carry them on yourself.

Well, to each his own. Frankly I am cheap by keeping my hands in my pockets as we walk through the casino and by not buying more than one drink a day ;)

The flowers from the ship are in the $50 range which is very reasonable, IMHO, and they have always lasted very well for us. Personally for the few bucks involved, I will choose the convenience of dealing with them instead of searching for another vendor and making arrangements and then wondering if they will work, or even worse trying to carry a bundle of flowers on board during boarding.

Have a GREAT cruise!

$50!!! - That's why I wanted to purchase them myself, but I just talked to a NCL rep and she said that we wouldn't even be able to bring them onboard ourselves, but we can purchase the flowers from them. I don't know if this is true or not, or if it's their way of making more money from us.

Alaska_or_Bust,

Last year three couples of us took NCL Pearl's maiden voyage to Alaska. You may not know this, but it left on Mother's Day. Our husbands all bought us beautiful boquets from the market and gave them to us in the cruise terminal where we waited for them to return the rental car. Nobody said anything to us, we carried our flowers right on the ship with us, and they are in our "official" cruise photo we bought from NCL! Made the single carnation they gave all mothers look small..............

Go ahead and enjoy your flowers from the market, carry them on as if you are supposed to; I hope no one says a thing to you!

I'm trying to remember what we used, think maybe the souvenir drink glass we got with our first embarkation drink. sorry I can't help you as to whether the steward could get one for you, but you can always ask.

The flowers were quite nice throughout most of our cruise.

There are several vendors at Pike Place Market who do beautiful bouquets of dried flowers; might be easier to haul onto the ship, plus you won't have to worry about them lasting the entire cruise!

I can always tell who the tourists are on my daily ferry commute; the out of towners love the flowers from the market! ;)

I ordered the NCL flowers online @$49 each for two suites, when my sister (a Seattle native) said she has seen many people in line for the "big ships" carrying flowers. We will be in Pike's Market pre-boarding so we will have many (less costly) options of beautiful flowers!

I called my NCL and the rep and she said the very same thing as the poster mentioned above: "they are not allowed to be carried on the boat"

So, hmmm....which will it be?

I canceled the $98 (for 2 rooms) and will take my chances with hand carrying them onboard. Worse case scenario, they won't allow them.....but I have a feeling they will ;)

I will be packing 2 (dollar store) tall spaghetti/food containers to house the flowers.

When I asked this question awhile back I was told the room stewards will find you a vase. Others said they used the ice bucket. The dollar store containers do sound like a great idea though.

Lol....I will also be packing a small roll of duct tape. After all, it is a ship...and I'd hate to have a spilled vase!

I'm sure the steward could eventually find a solution, but on that 1st day, he probably has unending requests.

(duct tape could have 101 uses)

Perfect! I think I will buy one! I live locally, but rather than going to Pike Place, I plan to go to the Farmer's Market in our town the morning of our cruise. They have gorgeous bouquets for as low as $5 and I buy one for myself nearly every Saturday morning.
