39august Posted October 16, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2004 Can someone who was on the Jewel's recent Trans-Atlantic cruise tell me which side, port or starboard, is best for balcony cabins to view ports on this itinerary?
Mexico Posted October 16, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 16, 2004 We had an aft cabin on the Transatlantic Crossing - 8168 - and ALWAYS had a great view of the port as we departed. The aft cabins ALWAYS provide a great view.
Bellalago Breeze Posted October 16, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2004 We had a port balcony and loved it. Most of the ports we visited are actually shipping ports with lots of containers piled up. Not at all like the Caribbean. The views in port, especially in Europe, are not that great. Portland Maine was beautiful to look out over the water and to see the other side of the harbor. Both coming into Portland and leaving we were treated to tugs and fireboats spraying water in the Jewel's honor! That was a neat sight.

cherith Posted November 2, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 2, 2004 If you are sailing westbound it is best to have a port side cabin as the sun is south of you and you will actually see it most of the day. Sailing Eastbound it would be best to be in the starboard side.
