shsunseeker Posted July 10, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2008 I'm interested in taking the Uniworld cruise Jewels of the Nile next June. Does anyone know anything about this cruise? Thanks, Sunseeker

micked10@earthlink.net Posted July 11, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 11, 2008 We are also planning a trip to Egypt. We were on Uniworld last Apr. for the Tulips and windmills and it was a wonderful cruise. I don't think you can go wrong with Uniworld. I am also looking at Maupintour because they include almost everything and stay at some very nice hotels.they also use a great cruise ship for the Nile cruise. I think we will plan on Oct. or Nov. of 2009. I think June or July would be too, too hot for us. micked10
pacmom Posted July 11, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 11, 2008 The temp will be at or over 100 F. by June. We went in Feb and by the time we got to Aswan the temp was in the 80's. We went with Uniworld and were very pleased. They are now using different ships, so describing them won't help you. There were three different tour companies on our boat. Uniworld, Trafalger and Insight. We each had our own guide for the entire trip. There were about 30 in each group. Unless you live in the Desert southwest, you don't want to go in the March t- Oct time frame. It is undoubtly the most fascinating of the 6 river cruises we've taken. arabella Posted February 5, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 5, 2009 I took this tour in November 2008. It was the trip of a lifetime! The hotel stay in Cairo was wonderful. It was at the Marriott. We had the same tour guide throughout the entire trip and he was great. It was a strenuous trip to begin with but we could relax when we got on the ship touring Lake Nassar. We saw most of the important sites and there were no extra costs to see anything. The food was OK on the ships but not great. The wine was reasonable in cost and better than I expected. The buses used were first class. The Nile River and the Lake Nassar boats used were OK (the staterooms were not that nice) but the public areas were very nice. Don't bother to order a cocktail because they are very skimpy on the amount of alcohol they use. I would recommend Uniworld as an agent to visit Egypt. I suggest eating in the Italian resturant in the Marriot. It was the best meal I had during the whole trip.
