Cococay Aquapark and other things. . .

We'll be visiting Cococay for the first time on our Labor Day Mariner sailing and we're curious about how the kids Aquapark works. My understanding is that you book hour-long usage of the park. Does anybody know how many kids are allowed in the park at the same time? Is it crowded? Is one time slot better than another? How close is the park to the lunch buffet? Any info on this would be appreciated.

Also, we were wondering how long it takes to walk to the other side of the island where it is less crowded and if they have chairs set up there. Are there shady spots on that side of the island as well?

Sorry for so many questions but we are really looking forward to visiting this stop for the first time and want to make the most of it (weather permitting).

Yes, you pay for one hour at the aqua park. Not sure how many they allow out at one time, but there were probably around 20 of us, which was more than manageable. More than 30-35 would probably be a bit crowded. We really enjoyed it, and we don't have kids! :D

The aqua park is about a 10-15 minute walk from where the bbq is served.

Although we didn't walk all the way to the other side of the island, I should think 30 minutes would be enough time to get over there.

Coco Cay was lovely. We had not been to a private island before and frankly had no interest, as we like meeting locals and experiencing the culture of the various ports, but we were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed it.

If you keep walking past the aqua park and the water slide and the kayak hut, you will come upon a shady area with hammocks, lounge chairs and a lovely view of the water. The hammocks are very popular.

This area isn't very crowded. I always head right for this area when we are fortunate enough to be on Coco Cay.

The only downside is that it is about a five minute walk to the beach BBQ area when food is served (free) at 11:30AM. The food goes pretty fast. It is almost all gone by 1:00PM. Of course you can always go back to the ship to eat in the Windjammer if you prefer.
