Coralc Posted July 16, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2008 There is no Johnny Rockets or alternative dining on Grandeur. There is the main dining room, Windjammer, Solarium pizza & hotdogs, room service. We are child free, so I don't know whether an 8 year old would enjoy the ship orr not. :)
Welovetokruze Posted July 16, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2008 ;) Our granddaughter was on the GOS with us in late May, the Adventure Ocean area and staff were outstanding. Our GD didn't want to leave the area at times. On Labadee, they had a separate kids area. I would recommend the AO to anyone traveling with a child/children. The ship is our favorite, we have sailed on her 4 times.
cb at sea Posted July 16, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 16, 2008 At 8 years old, everything is an adventure. He'll have a blast! (And if he doesn't, this would be the LAST time he goes!!!!!)
duncanmaria Posted July 16, 2008 #5 Share Posted July 16, 2008 We sailed the beautiful Grandeur in January, 2007 with our two children, who had a blast. To this day, this is my 12-year-old daughter's favorite cruise (she was 10 at the time). My son was 8 at the time and had a great time as well. The Grandeur has an okay arcade, which he liked, and the AO activities were perfect for kids in this age group. The Grandeur is a fantastic ship and while it may not have some of the bells and whistles of a Voyager-class (or larger) ship, there is still plenty to keep the kids busy. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

greatdanemom Posted July 16, 2008 #7 Share Posted July 16, 2008 My daughter sailed Grandeur for the first time when she was 10 and she loved it. I have a co-worker who just returned from Grandeur and he said his daughter (around 7 or 8) actually enjoyed the kid's club on Grandeur more than she had enjoyed the one on Disney. I bet your son will have a blast!
